Batman 3 thread

The rumours you have heard are pretty old. Hoffman has been linked with the Penguin for at least 2 years.

I think they need someone a bit less obvious than Jolie to play Catwoman.

I'm really surprised you didn't know Halle Berry played Catwoman. In 2004 they did a stand alone Catwoman movie. It wasn't a spin-off to Batman Returns, but it is sort of in the same universe as there is a quick visual reference to Michelle Pfeiffer's Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Halle Berry didn't play Selina Kyle in the film, but a new character called Patience Phillips. The film was a mess, and pretty much slated. It has no connection to the Nolan Batman films, and is best forgotten in my opinion. See the link below.

Putting this in spoiler tags just to be on the safe side (I don't want people who haven't seen The Dark Knight yelling at me)

I'm annoyed Nolan killed off Two Face for good. It was too much like the old Batman movie franchise - using the death of a villain for the big climax. It felt a bit lazy and was the only truly weak point in otherwise almost flawless The Dark Knight. Two Face is one of the most complex characters in the entire Batman universe and there is much more than could have been done with him in the Nolan franchise.

But anyway, I'm not sure who I want in Batman 3. The Riddler would be tricky to get right and although I love villians like The Mad Hatter and The Ventriloquist, they are probably too obscure. I thought Mr Freeze got a raw deal in Batman & Robin and would love to see him done with more repsect, likewise with Poison Ivy. Would love to see Catwoman (aka Selina Kyle, not the fake Halle Berry version of the character) again but Nolan doesn't sound very keen on using villians who were in past films...I think the Joker might have been a bit of an exception to the rule for him. Harley Quinn would be amazing if done right but since they probably won't be brave enough to re-cast the Joker so they can use him again, Harley wouldn't be as effective completely on her own.

If the movie does get made it will be interested to see what villains they do use. I hope it is lesser known ones who will surprise people.

Mr Freeze done like in BTAS would be good, rather than that awful Arnie version (as much as I like Arnie, he was so wrong for that role).

I loved it when he went all "Mahone" in that scene :D

In Nolan's 'verse the Joker already created Two-Face. I wouldn't want the Joker portrayed as some sort of creator of villains. It worked perfectly for Two-Face but it would be too repetitive if they did it again with anyone else.

Brilliant post. I agree completely. You've made an excellent point here. Fichtner was only given a couple of minutes of screen time and he definitely is better than that. He could become something bigger - you're totally right.

I was not a giant fan of Batman forever becuase it was to unreal and slapstick plus Jim Carrey's version of the Ridder was not as good as his Mask persona and too Ace Ventura. But the worst one the did was the one with Ivy and Freeze it was too arty and too voodoo and once again slapstick and after they stop trying for another.

Listentome, oh yes i remember Catwoman the film now......but i have never counted it as a real batman film and therefore never saw it! in fact i thought the idea so bad that i blocked it out of my mind....thanks for bringing back those horrible memories! :D

Sergio2006, sorry but i am at work, probably wouldn't get away with reading the entire script of a 2 and a half hour long film haha.....and all my thoughts were just guesses and rumours......I.E i dont think there is actually going to be a batman vs jack sparrow movie!

Well just to spoil your fun, Ledger improvised the clapping as applause for Gordon, so it isn't an indication of anything to come.

BTW, the Mayor wasn't wearing eyeliner, Nestor Carbonell just has very dark eyelashes. He's the same in everything. :D

This was on Moviehole website about a possible release date for Batman 3:

"Batman Executive Producer Michael Uslan confirms a release date for The Dark Knight sequel in an interview with The Courier Post.

According to Uslan, the new film's likely to be out in 2011 - which, essentially, means Nolan's signed to direct, they're close to having a script, and casting can't be too far away.

Summer 2011 is likely when Warners will release the film, which means it'll be up against another superhero jaunt, "The Avengers" - Marvel's highest-profile superhero release ever."

I dont know if this is true or not but I think as well that summer 2011 is also the planned release date for Spiderman 4 as well. So if this is true Summer 2011 could be the ulimate superhero film battle with The Avengers vs Batman 3 vs Spiderman 4!

You guys are being 'orrible. hero2zero was on a roll, and you guys shot him down in his prime. He should direct the next two films!! :D
