'Batman 3' release date confirmed

I'm indifferent about Batman 3. What does interest me is it's released in the same year as Captain America and The Avengers. I think The Avengers is going to get bumped back a year. I can't see them doing

April/May - Captain America

Summer - let Batman have it

November/December - The Avengers

The Avengers was being built up as "the" film of 2012 so it's either going to have to take on Batman, move to a lesser slot in the year or change the year it gets released.

Excellent news! Now it's just the case of which villain?? :)

I know it's odRAB on for the Riddler, but I'm hoping that they try and do something a bit unexpected like Bane or Anarky.. mind you, they're not really well known enough I guess. But saying that, neither was the Scarecrow really, from a publicly known villain point of view.

Anyway, we'll see! :)

There are a number of villains to choose from, but only a few would fit into the Nolan universe. He may have to follow studio direction by choosing a villain who is well known, and marketable.

I do feel that Catwoman neeRAB to play a part in this movie. In my opinion, she is one of the most important elements to the whole Batman mythology. Also, there is more than enough material to work from, including backstories of Selina Kyle being an ex-protitute etc.The Riddler is probably the most apt villain, but the Batman/Catwoman relationship should probably take center stage.

After the hype of the last film it's a guaranteed hit film so they could easily use an lesser known or obscure villain.

They could use the riddler or catwoman in number 4. In number 5 do another obscure one then either catwoman or the riddler on number 6.
The problem these comic book films have is if they use the big well known characters in the first few films later in the franchise people are left thinking who? This is going to be rubbish, bring back........
By alternating it you build up anticipation and can extend the franchise whilst keeping it interesting.

The rebooted Spider-Man film is also scheduled to be released in 2012. In the same month as the next Batman film - July. So, it's going to be a big year for Superhero flicks.

As much as I wish it was coming out sooner, I'm also glad Nolan and co. haven't rushed a sequel out. It's likely to be a better film because of it.

Your certainly right. I also think Star Trek 2 will be released in the summer of 2012 aswell. So there will be alot of compettion. I actually think the Spiderman film will be moved about to an earlier/late date as i don't feel it can gurantee it's box office number's for a summer release. Which is a shame as i'm a massive fan.

Oooh nice. Thanks

I heard a rumor back when the second movie came out that Johnny depp was considered as a choice for the riddler. He would be perfect. Johnny is the best actor to play weird characters. I mean look at the characters he has played through his career.

I thought they were going to base it on the game, but that would involve doing the joker again, looks doubtful. I have to admit I hadn't really seen/heard of the scarecrow before until I played the game. Using him would be excellent as he poses a psychological threat to batman and Nolan's movies are mainly psychologically dark.

It would depend on the script and who is cast as Catwoman.

IMO had Heath Ledger not have died there wouldn't have been as much a fuss about the last film. Yes it would have been big and popular etc but when they are talking about Heath getting an Oscar for the film at the previous years Academy Award ceremony which was a few months before the film was released or trailers seen you know there was a lot of spin and ype for the film by the film studios and film industry.

I haven't seen TDK but from what I believe he isn't on screen for much of the film. If this is the case then the same could happen for Catwoman. I have no idea who could play her though.

He isn't on screen for much of the film? Believe wrong because he has a considerable amount of time in the movie

I personally think Ledger would have won the oscar regardless of his death, but i question if the hype and huge box office takings it had would have been the same if he hadn't died.
