Basic Bicycle Mechanics?

Hi, I am 13 and I want to learn some basic bike mechanics. Like, fixing the chain, working with the gears, maybe fixing disconnected brakes and other basic stuff like that. Can anybody tell me a way that I can learn all this for free on the internet. Like some kind of free online mechanic school. I know I'm being lazy and cheap but I would greatly appreciate if someone knows of one or can find one for me. Thanks a lot, Mike.

its not really hard just try siting down seeing how parts move stuff like that u should be abel 2 fig er it out

My top three recommendations:

1. Your local library should have at least one, if not four or five, bicycle repair & maintenance manuals. Take them home, read them, then read them again.

2. For an online source, go to parktool.com. Park is a quality bike tool mfr, but the website shows you how to do many repairs.

3. If you really want to learn about how bicycles work, what component compatibility really means and how to fix almost any issue, go to sheldonbrown.com.

There are other sources online, but these two stand out. Bob A will probably mention bicycletutor, and I agree that it too is a great source.

well as a teen myself (15) i havent serched online or anything but the way i've learned is thoruhg expiriance, chain comes off trial/eeror until you get it bakc on, sometimes you try to do a drift and pull the brakes and they may snap, work on fixing them, ect ect. get out there, ride and when something happens figure out a sioloution
