Barcode reader on N95

I'm wondering what you guys do with this function? I don't ever need to scan barcodes unless I'm using the self-checkout at home depot.

here read this so that you can understand what we are talking about-> http://blogs.s60.com/tommi/2006/12/2d_barcode_manifesto.html#more

when i was in manila last feb, one service provider there was using it for freebies... the barcodes were publish in a local paper, and once your phone scan it, the phone automatically downloads the free ringtones, clips, themes, etc...

that is just one application...

what barcodes are is just a series of number in a bar of codes i used it on my n93i and got some numbers from a kleenex box and that was my 5 min of fun with that program.

if you are talking about stripped bar codes, then that is not a 2D bar code, read the article on the link i posted above, see the samples of 2D bar codes, these are usually square and looks like what is shown below:

that firefox extension is AWESOME. just installed it and reads barcodes fine on the n95. i always wondered why normal barcodes wouldnt read...

Okay two questions. What type of barcodes are readable. Is it the traditional barcodes on the ketchup bottle, or is it the square barcodes that are shown above. Secondly, what information is available from the scanning of the barcode.
