Banned episodes that didn't deserve to be banned

The South Park episode "Pip" shouldn't been Banned but Comedy Central Banned the episode for one reason and one reason only: Pip is a unpopular character, heck, I saw the Pip episode in Syndication
 
But.. that's what praying mantises actually do. Those things are so evil. Most predators kill or sedate their prey before eating. Mantises just grab on and start chompin'.

On the topic, 4kids could easily edit the episode of pokemon that is still banned about the gun. The porygon one I understand because of the whole incident, but there were only 2 and that one with the gun could have been edited just like 4kids does yugioh.
 
I know that. It's still a gruesome sight gag, and my point is, it would make more sense to ban the cartoon for that, than for something arbitrary like glass eye jokes.
 
As its name suggests, it's basically just a retelling of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", but with an all-black cast and a heavy infusion of the popular black culture of the 1940s. It's a very lively cartoon, with a wonderful jazz score and some stellar, vibrant animation. It's not impossible to get, either - if you snoop around the Golden Age Cartoons forums, I'm sure somebody can hook you up with a copy.
 
I think there's too much plot footage they'd need to cut, with the gunshots and bombs and possibly Musashi seducing the Game Warden. Add in painted-over guns and pointed fingers, and you've got something that doesn't make any sense and there may not be enough footage left to fill the 22 minutes or so.

Saw "Sugartime" some weeks back, buying the DVD after months of it not showing up on PBS. While I don't agree with its detractors, the things that they're taking issue with are barely there. A reference to Mom's partner and Buster making a comment on how lotsa women live there... The vast bulk of it is kids going to get maple syrup with Buster. It's no more political than the one I caught the end of that was set on a reservation. They didn't go into why the original inhabitants of the country are living like that, and they sure didn't say anything about there being 2 mommies.
 
The Rabbit Stew short...is that the really old short where Bugs is pursued by a Native American? I remember seeing that on TNT back in the 90s when Turner merged/acquired Warner Bros content. This was a time before Cartoon Network. Yeah, I'm OLD.
 
Really? I did'nt know it was actually based off of Snow White. But where does Bugs Bunny fit into it? Last I checked, he was in the cartoon also, or some other rabbit was.
 
No, that episode is banned everywhere, even in Japan.

Most banned Pokemon episodes are for rather silly reasons.

There was nothing wrong with The Ice Cave, for example, people were just worried about the fuss made about Rougela.

And the Family Guy episode banning also made no sense. There were plenty of more offensive episodes even in the original run.

But, seriously, not only did the Porygon episode of Pokemon not deserve to be completely banned, PORYGON HIMSELF (and Porygon 2) should NOT have been banned from all future anime apperences.

Nintendo, IT WAS NOT PORYGON WHO MADE THE SEZURIES. IT WAS PIKACHU. I'VE SEEN THE EPISODE, SO I KNOW.
 
Not to mention that lunatic Carole Weatherford who had Nintendo change Jynx from black skin to purple. I don't think anybody else cared about the color of Jynx's skin. I think she also went after Popo in DB/DBZ/DBGT.
 
Very interesting topic! Now it's my turn to make a few comments:

1. One banned Popeye cartoon is "Pop-pie a la Mode" where Popeye goes up against wild island natives. A clip from that has long been edited from the "Spinach vs. Hamburgers" cartoon. There are also 2 banned B&W WWII Popeye cartoons that deal with Japanese soldiers. At least, the Popeye cartoons with American indians are back on Boomerang.:)

2. I've seen the banned Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips, and I thought it was pretty good.:)

3. WB's Tokio Jokio should NEVER have been made at all! IT'S AWFUL!!!!!:ack:

4. I also liked Tex Avery's Uncle Tom's Cabana & Blitz Wolf cartoons. I really did!:D

5. Disney should NEVER have banned Super Nova. There's nothing wrong with it, IMO!:( At least, I thankfully recorded it from network TV.:sweat:
 
Interestingly, a lot of the Beavis and Butthead episodes that were banned had nothing to do with fire at all, yet were collectively banned because of the whole "fire controversy".

Way Down Mexico Way, for example, has Beavis and Butt-head swallowing condoms full of drugs (pills of dubious origin), Heroes featured Butt-head shooting down a jumbo jet, and Washing the Dog depicts Beavis and Butt-head sticking a poodle in a washing machine, but in all those episodes theres not a reference to fire, a flame, or a lighter in sight.

Runner-UP: The Powdered Toast Man episode of Ren and Stimpy. PTM Burns the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and Nick pulls the episode because 2-3 people complained
 
I'm not sure if people knew this, but the Futurama episode A Tale of Two Santas was held over because, according to the commentaries, FOX got a single complaint about the robot Santa. It aired a year later at 9 p.m. (central) with a "viewer discresion" bumper, the only Futurama episode to have one.



These are (were?) pretty much only "banned" on Cartoon Network and possibly Nickelodeon. I remember watching Bushy Hare several times off of TNT and ABC, which actually involves Bugs outsmarting an Aborigine native Austrailian hunter

Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt I've only seen off of TNT, and was a very good episode from what I remember. Hiawatha was actually pretty adorable, and the cartoon was hardly incensitive. Its just that Bugs has to show the hunters who's boss. I believe it was based on a story or poem, since it begins with some interesting narrative.

I can't recall "A Feather in his Hare" for the life of me
 
It's interesting to know that all the cartoons you mentioned, including MGM, Tom and Jerry that featured blackface can still seen on foreign television.
Namely, Cartoon Network Asia Pacific. That's where I saw the Popeye episodes you're talking about.
