Banned episodes that didn't deserve to be banned

It wasn't considered racist back then, but it is now. It doesn't make these cartoons bad, by any means - in fact, I and many others consider "Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs" to be one of the best Bob Clampett cartoons ever. If anything, it's certainly one of the only wartime films that present black characters actively participating in the war effort.

Yeah, in fact i read somewhere that Coal Black was intended to be a salute to Jazz music. Heck, the only thing thats realy offensive are the jabs at the Japanese (and it WAS wartime so a joke like that was to be expected) and midgets.

That was certainly an odd one. It was only slightly more politically incorrect than usual, if at all. In the end it seems like it must've been a fairly arbitrary thing, where one guy on the standards board just happens to stumble across the "I Need A Jew" song and says maybe it's too much, and then the whole episode is sort of "under review" from that point on and they just don't let go of it.

I bet much of it has to do with who is in charge at certain times. On the Simpsons Season 8 commentary, it was said that the episode "Homer's Phobia" almost didn't air because of a lengthy list of censor notes and the line, "Not suitable for airing", but thanks to a change in who was president at the right moment, the new president declared it OK and it ran no problem.

Digimon on Jetix, They don't show several Season 2 and 3 episodes, probably because the censors consider them "too dark", which they're not.

The episode that eveyone knows on this board is the episdoe of the new Mighty Mouse Adventures. The whole flower( cocaine ) sniffing scene that caused such an uproar. Bruce Timm stated in Modern Masters that it was biggest load of BS he'd ever seen.

The edited scene that they used on the DVD is actually a lot more disturbing (and a bit longer iirc) than what was originally there.
However the Iggins replacement thing was totally lame.

How about the "Postcards from Buster" episode "Sugartime" if it wasn't for the same sex married woman couple from Vermont that could have been twin mothers or twin sisters rather than same sex married?

I suspect now that "Donald Duck in Nutziland" could never be shown on tv, what with all the swastikas and Japanese stereotypes.

Good post. I remember watching "Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Even" on the Plucky Duck Show, and then being puzzled as to why it was never shown on TTA. You've just solved one of my life's biggest unresolved mysteries.

Didnt CN ban certain Cowboy Bebop eps around 9/11? I know for a fact that they banned "Cowboy Funk" among others. And there were PLENTY of banned Beavis and Butthead eps,,the most famous being "stewarts house" and "Way down mexico way".
