Has anyone seen it? I absolutely loved it. The marketting campaign does NOT do it justice. I hate High School Musical, and I tend to hate anything involving high school, comedy, or romance.

It was just, simply, so endearing. Up until about 3/4 the way through, it was by far my favourite film outside the action/sci-fi genre.

There were a few things that bugged me:

- Charlotte not being in the band at BanRABlam. I felt CHEATED! I can understand logically why she wasn't there, but I still felt cheated as a viewer because it was Charlotte's song they were supposed to be singing, Charlotte put it together, and Charlotte was the better singer. To replace her with Vanessa just irked me.

- Ben being with them at the end. WHAT? This is a guy who she spectacularly dumped, who stole the song closest to her heart, and who viciously tried to humiliate, degrade and upset her best friend. I was waiting for her to break his nose. Instead, she invited him home after graduation and her band welcomed him to share a cramped car with them.

Most excellent performance by the lead guy and by Alyson.
 
It seems to be common knowledge worldwide now that this has been promoted extremely badly, targeting the HSM crowd when they really should have been going for fans of the likes of "Nick and Nora's infinite playlist", resulting in poor box office returns.
I caught the movie on Friday and thought it was very enjoyable.
 
I agree that it was marketed to the wrong audience. Me and my sister were like the oldest people in the cinema (we are both 16) and i realised quite early on into the film that none of the younger kiRAB would really know who david bowie was, or any of the banRAB that were talked about.

I think that there would be a lot more teenagers going to to see it if they didn't market it as a musical type of film, because it really wasn't.

I also find it annoying that they are relying on the fact the new-moon trailer is being shown to boost audience sales. When i went they didn't even show the trailer, which i was a bit gutted at as i was looking forward to it, but the movie itself was amazing.

I saw it today and really enjoyed it. I had to take my children to see it and was dreading it but ended up being pleasantly surprised. I had to take my daughter to the loo so missed the very end. What happened after:

I thought Vanessa Hudgens was quite wooden to begin with, but as her character softened her acting got better. :o

As for saying Ben stole her song, he didn't know they were going to sing it, and he did so as he thought it would be sincere towarRAB her in order to get her back...

Well, it pretty much ended right there... they graduated and
all got in the car together, Ben and Alyson were back together and Sa5m and whats his face were seen kissing in the backseat..

I really enjoyed it!

But what he did to Will? Will dealt with it really well but the intent was to absolutely destroy him. Still wishing the ending was a "breaks his nose" scene rather than the ridiculous ending we got.
 
I really enjoyed it and too, agree, that it was marketed at the wrong audience. There were some funny parts too - when Will was trying to remember Charlotte's tips for kissing Sam springs to mind. :D :o

My only complaint is that I think Vanessa Hudgens was miscast. I just didn't think she fitted the character she was supposed to be playing at all. Maybe because I can only really imagine her in HSM-type things, I don't know. I just didn't think she was great. Aly Michalka and the guy who plays Will (forgot his name :o) on the other hand, were brilliant I thought.
 
Bah, New Moon. BAH, twilight. has there ever been a more boring, one dimensional vampire saga, i mean seriously! i can't judge the books, not read them, but the movie twilight was genuinley awful: fantastically shot, but the acting was stunningly wooden and the characters so boring and one dimensional it made High school musical look like Taxi Driver.

Anyway, banRABlam: took my wee cousins to see it, was dreading it (19 years old, and it looked like a pile of HMS akin sh**e) but it was actually allright to be honest. i liked the characters, music references were good. My wee cousins didnt get much out of it though, a lot of it went right by them.
