Bands turning into U2

Well, as all of Bono's charity donations are 'anonymous', yet Bono always puts his face in front of all these campaigns, I tend to assume that he's not putting as much in as he'd like people to think.

And I don't think he has any long-term strategy, in that he announces that HIV medication being cheaply available in Africa is something that is extremely important to him - yet I've never heard of Bono or U2 providing research grants into HIV medication, or filing patents for HIV medication, or buying facilities to product HIV medication. And if they don't produce the medication themselves, what rights do they have to affect the price at which the medication is sold? U2 have considerable financial muscle which they could put behind campaigns in smart ways which I think could really change things. But I think they prefer just to make noise and get attention for performing charitable acts.

Because Bono makes these decisions that take a lot of people's time and money and clearly doesn't seem to know half of what he's talking about, I think he's a complete ****.

And I don't like the way he sings, or his lyrics. The EDGE is great, though.

That is horrible, copying the Coldplay sound. I can still just about appreciate the guitar lines and the general songwriting, but their sound is pretty much based on having no interesting sound.

And although U2 suck, that's mainly because of Bono's vocals and pretty much everything about the guy (like he wanted to be Bob Geldof, but was unfortunately born retarded)

Coldplay will not be the next U2.

They will never write a song like "bullet in the blue sky"

They'll never have a line like "It's no secret that a conscience can sometimes be a pest/It's no secret arabition bites the nails of success/Every artist is a canibal/every poet is a their/ all kill their inspiration and sing about the grief"

RHCP are turning into U2...or allegedly the Eagles.
