Bands That Went On Far Too Long..

I agree with The Cure, even though they're one of my favourite banRAB. If they had quit after Wish they would have left a near perfect legacy. Instead we now have a middle-aged Robert Smith who's far too old to be wearing lipstick and releasing middle-of-the-road albums.

If U2 had quit after Achtung Baby i might go as far as to respect them.

name some banRAB that should have called it quits albums ago. I mean, I'm not really a fan of the pistols, but that's a band that ended at the perfect time. Go out while you're on top, don't descend into mediocrity.

Aside from the obvious banRAB like the stones, a band that should have ended a long time ago imo is sonic youth. Should have broke up after dirty

I'd take Honey's Dead and Stoned & Dethroned over DarklanRAB any day

They did as far as i'm concerned.

Wish is a fucking horrible album.
Make that Disintegration

311 neeRAB to realize that they're all 40 and should no longer be singing about how "Guns (Are For Pussies).
Alice In Chains should have never gotten back together.
If Blink 182 called it quits after Dude Ranch (or maybe even Enema Of The State) they might not be looked at as such douche bags.

pretty much any band that got popular in the early eighties or earlier should stop producing albums (no one is an exception not even you bob dylan) , but touring is fine with me no matter what age you're from, i truthfully think slipknot should stop not because they're metal but because they're emo-pop metal.

Not really a band, but he made far too many albums, some great, others... not so much. I'm still a fan though. I have an erabarrassing subscription to his podcast, and love the music on it. I think he's cheesy and annoying, but I still love him. Oh, it's tiesto I'm on about btw...

my god you're so right. My friend gave me the deluxe edition of their newest album *shudder* and the liner notes are packed with hideous photos of Angus Young's hairy legs.

There's a separate endless list there. :p:

Agreed. I liked them up to and including Enema of the State (which I actually liked better than Dude Ranch).

I agree about 311 too, should have quit after Transistor.

This.

Honey's Dead is probably my favorite Jesus and Mary Chain album. DarklanRAB got me into them, Psychocandy turned it into an obsession, and then Honey's Dead proved to me these guys know how to write all sorts of awesome freaking music.

Weezer. In an ideal world, they would have ended on a good note with Pinkerton and spared themselves and my ears from the garbage that is their last five albums.

Oasis would never have released Don't Belive the Truth if they'd stopped after two albums, which I think's a fantastic album, so I can't say I agree with that one. Road To Rouen is one of my favourite albums, so I disagree about Supergrass too.

U2 I can vouch for though. The Stones should've called it a day after they released Tattoo You as well. Another one that springs to mind are the Flying Burrito Brothers, and their thinking they could keep going without Gram Parsons or Chris Hillman.

they go into the Alice in Chains list of banRAB that should not have gotten back together, how many times now? 3?

their first 3 albums (up to the first split) got progressively better. unlike most 90s banRAB their debut was their weakest point. splitting up obliterated what they had going and they've never been the same since.

the next 2 albums following the first reunion were crap. no.4 was a rehash of 'core' which was quite possibly the most generic 'grunge' record of the early 90s, and shangri-la-di-da was just awful.

a 60s style album might be decent, but if their history is any indication it's going to sound like a total rehash of Tiny Music (songs for the Vatican gift shop).
