Bands that Plagarize

Plagiarism without frontiers:

Apart from the "Al Gore version", Macarena was nothing but a vulgar plagiarism of Fun Boy Three's It Ain't What You Do (from 1982, but based on a jazz song from 1939):

Faithfulness (Skin, 2003), a plagiarism of Aire (Mecano, 1984):

I'm on internet where Youtube videos take hundreRAB of years to load - are you saying that Gentle Giant was ripped off by someone, or that Gentle Giant ripped someone off?

Sigue Sigue rabroad - Already plagiarizing themselves by the second album (I swear to this day, I got it on Cassette for a Dollar...yes, morbid curiosity before the You Tube age), there's "Rio Rocks" which goes all over "La Baraba" near the end to easily imagine Richie Valens spinning in his grave many times over.

Queen of plagarism:

There was an interesting one I was hearing. Coldplay's vida la whatever (I'm certainly no Coldplay fan) had the exact same melody as Satriani's "If I Could Fly"..

And there is that one Dream Theater/Muse similarity in one of their songs, Stockholm Syndrome/(don't remeraber the DT song)

I thought that vid was brilliant :D Also, interesting link Urban!

Led Zep's ripping off Spirit and poor Randy California is a standout for me in that list. It's made worse by the fact that Stairway to Heaven is such a friggin' huge song.

The most recent drama I can remeraber was the Coldplay plagiarizing Joe Satriani case.

But then of course there were some who said Satriani himself had stolen his song from Los Enanitos Verdes ..

Plagiarizing to some extent seems a very common thing to me.
