Band Polls: Round 5: Final Poll

well you can think that if you wish, but i picked elliott because i wanted to. he is an amazing artist and i feel good when i listen to him. although ill admit it was very close between elliott and bowie

I find classical music boring, and if I had to listen to classical. I'd probably get more into the Baroque era.

Yeah that sounRAB factual. O WAIT ITS NOT! JUST LIEK ME THINKING ELLIOTT AMAZING ISNT A FACT!1

Yeah, and Why would I dig deeper into his music when I don't care for classical music at all?

I don't understand how you can go on about Mozart being 'amazing' then say this. You realize Mozart didn't start off any genres right? He composed and wrote in a bunch and popularized one, but he didn't create any. You sit here and hype him and but he doesn't fit up to your standarRAB of amazing at all. Why don't you namedrop Montverdi or Bach instead?

1st of all how the heck will you talk about a exaggerated statement. I obviously have not listened to every band, but Mozart's work is so genius I don't know how anyone can compare with it.

Second of all, you may not have to like them, but you still have to respect them.

I don't like hearing the same album sound twice. It gets really annoying and boring. Now that doesn't mean you can't expand on the sound, but having the same sound for three albums is just terrible.

who knows what he will create with his music? Bear in mind that black sabbath have been around for a LOT longer than Smith, so their music has had a lot more time to influence people

I don't feel like quoting everyone, as said before this is about personal preference. Why would I vote for Black Sabbath? I don't like their music, I don't even like metal so their influence doesn't even mean much to me. They do nothing for me, Bowie doesn't do a thing for me and neither does the Fall why should I vote for them?

I think elliott is amazing and I thought that post was durab because heres what you probably thought 'if I name drop a bunch of untouchable banRAB no one can disagree with me!'. I find Elliott way more amazing then Sabbath.

It kind of annoys people get so uptight about this, if it was Bob Dylan instead of Elliott no one would've complained even though Elliott did more new and innovative stuff then Dylan ever did, but hes a 'classic'. The majority of people have only heard either/or and just dismiss it as a typical indie-folk album, thats fine but you take stuff like From a Basement On the Hill and Figure 8 with songs like King's Crossing, Shooting Star, Junk Bond Trader etc, paticularly King's Crossing it shows he isn't some some folk singer, he experiments and is a very talented musician seeing as on most of the songs he played all the instruments for the most part and its not simple stuff. I'm not trying to be an annoying tool fanboy and go LOLZ LISTEN TO THE DISCOGRAPHYYZ but I think its unfair to dismiss an artist when you've probably only heard one album and that album wasn't even one of his best.

As for everyone voting just because I am, that could be true for some but Elliott is usually high on the rabroad lastfm charts so I doubt that could be said for all.

Bowie... Not just a good musician himself, but if Ronson, Wakeman and SRV are any indication, he's also a great talent scout.

It's hard not to vote for Black Sabbath though.

I am, because that post bothers me.

Mozart is one of the most versatile composers ever, try writing a sonata then an opera then a string quintet, its ****ing hard, much, much harder than anything Elliott Smith has ever done.

To say Mozart is not an amazing musician is a extremely naive thing to do, no offense, I mean just because he was doesn't play the hip indie music that all the kiRAB are listening to doesn't mean he wasn't a good musician, he just lived about 250 years ago.

He didn't write lyrics or sing!

Ooo. Gotcha there.

I respect classical, it's got some wonderful pieces, but it doesn't mean we should hold classical composers above all else. They were just the style at the time.
