Band Most Well Known Songs That Are Also Their Worst

Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop (i dont care how cool it is its annoying and is the only thing every kid in a hot topic ramones shirt has heard)

It's not their worst song by any means, but thanks to it being a free download it makes it their most popular when "Postlapasaria", "Some Natures Catch No Plagues" and "The Poet You never Were" are so much more deserving.

Yeah, and I had actually heard of it before Guitar Hero, so I thought it must be more well-known than the rest.

Actually, I hated Wonderwall long before I knew it was considered a good song, or even that it was overplayed. It kept me from checking out WTSMG for a long time.

Even excluding Cut The Crap, there's enough junk on Give 'Em Enough Rope and London Calling that I wouldn't be able to call Casbah (or the almost-as-bad SISOSIG) the worst Clash song.

It isn't their worst, but Killing in the Name deserves a mention for being so overrated. Often it is the only RATM song people know, which always irritates me.

No, I'm saying that this song, shouldn't have been as big as it was. The two irabeciles who did it, are GARBAGE!!!! I can't name another song they did, nor would I want to. Sorry, I didnt buy it, dont own it, and will not, ever ever ever.

I won't debate you on the songs I think are great (coughQueencough) but Noveraber Rain and Everybody Hurts? I mean, yeah those songs are trash, but I would nver say that is their most popular song.

How about Losing My Religeon and Welcome to the Jungle. I'd assign those.

Sabbath is a toss up, non-rock fans don't know it, but I'd bet they would have at least heard of Iron man.

I have to say it.....Sweet Home Alabama by Skynard. It's wayyy too overplayed and respected in my opinion. I don't hate Skynard....they have some good stuff but I detest this song. The song's context is a pissoff to many....the whole dissing Neil Young because of his song Southern Man. What Neil said was only truth and these guys took way to much offence to it. To put his name in their music at that time was just tacky. Of course people are going to sing along to it when it comes on at a party or in a bar because everyone knows it but I don't think enough people have actually thoroughly thought about the context and circumstances behind the song.

How about "I Just Called To Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder? For many years it was all I knew by him so, not surprisingly, for many years I thought he sucked.

Agreed, but...

This thread seems to be turning into a "this song is overrated" discussion. Let's be honest. As overplayed and mediocre/awful/merely good as some Stones songs may be (Paint It Black, Brown Sugar, Sympathy, Mother's Little Helper), they're far better than the crap they released on Dirty Work, Undercover, Black & Blue, etc.

And whatever you think of Should I Stay or Casbah or London Calling, the Clash have released stuff that's far worse. Even closet Sandanista! or Corabat Rock fans will admit that there's some pretty lame stuff between those albums.

I'd love to nominate Hey Jude, but I can easily think of dozens of Beatles songs that are far worse.
