Bambi Meets Godzilla - 1969

An old favorite of mine...

Funniest things to me in this are
the credits ("Marve Newland produced by Mr. and Mrs. Newland") and the way Godzilla's nails flex right at the end--check it out...

I remember that too. I forget when and how it exactly aired, but I remember watching it. Man, when I saw the ending, it scared the living daylights out of me. I had to change the channel because I was so scared.

I saw this many years ago. I thought it was crudely drawn, poorly animated, and entirely predictable.

I also thought it was hilarious. I LOVE IT! :D

I originally saw it because it was the centerpiece of a Rhino Video Cartoons compilation, and I thought it was okay. Though, I don't get how it's so well liked, other than the fact that it's just a long peaceful scene that's suddenly interrupted by RANDOM GODZILLA.

I think it's called juxtaposition. It's a very simple shock element for humour. I laffed the first time I saw it, but it doesn't really last beyond the first time. Odd that I remember it in 3D. I'm sure I only saw it in the original line drawing. I'm sure it's because people told me about it before I ever saw it. My own mental images.
