ballroom lessons, do i have to have a partner to take lessons?

You don't need a partner until you start competing (if you want to that is :D ) you will dance with your teacher if you do private lessons or with other beginners in group classes.A group class at my studio is 11 Australian dollars and that goes for half an hour, a private half hour lesson is 31 dollars and an hour is 60 dollars. In beginner classes they usually teach Latin dances as they are easier and Latin and ballroom go hand in hand so its best you start with Latin and then do ballroom (fox trot) and new vogue (Viennese waltz) as you progress. Good luck and have fun :) xxx

No, you don't need to bring a partner. In group classes most studios rotate partners, and in private lessons you'll dance with an instructor.
In my area, group classes are US$10 and private lessons between $50 and $65 per hour at the independent studios, with group packages a bit more at franchise studios. I've paid quite a bit more for a special coaching, but that isn't something that's needed, or even to be thought of, at the beginner level.
