ball joints for ford explorer 2003 4x4?

i went for an alignment and was told that the ball joints were bad . how much do you think this should cost? i was quoted 1,100 for all four. Sounds way to high does it not?
 
yeah sounds high to me too...

i would figure 60 bucks per ball joint.. 120
and to get the upper ones you had to buy upper control arms last i knew so 250 for them

labor to install parts (6 hours x 70 dollars per hour) 420
and a alinement 50 bucks so like 850 or so.
 
For $1100 bucks, I'll install all four ball joints, align the front end and then take you out to lunch.
If that's all that is going to be replaced, get a second estimate.
