Baker DD6 or Revtech 6 speed gear set????

Baker puts a bigger comp sprocket drive gear in the primary to achieve the overdrive gearing, I think it's 28 tooth instead of 24 or 25. There's a company out now that's offering a 27 tooth comp sprocket & longer primary chain for around $130. It raises your first gear ratio, but I don't think it's much worse than that of the 07-08 gears. Cheap way to get an overdrive effect if you have the torque for start-up.
 
Does that mean I'd be changing gears at different speeds with this setup? I'm not crazy about the stock gear ratios and the speeds/rpms you need to switch gears at. It seems I'm always on the border line in 2nd and 3rd gear on shifting to the next gear.
 
I put a SE 6 on my 2005 Fatboy and it did in fact lower the RPM at cruise...
Was it the pulley or the gears? maybe both?

Just wondering if your buddies didn't change the pulleys or something. They should have lowered the RPM at cruise somehow.

I put an S&S 6 speed in a 2002 road king and it was the nicest trans I have ever run, smooth shifting no noise and very nice on the hwy! I miss it greatly in comparison to the stock HD 6 speed in my harley now. My brother in law has a SE 6 speed in his 02 rk with the 95" bb kit and it is not as nice as that S&S was.

I put a DD7 in my ride two years ago and I love it. It is smooth and quiet, shifts are slick, easy and quiet. I got a lower first gear and have a gear between the stock 5th and 6th, 7th is straight through. The shifter drum lost a pin in the first 1200 miles. Baker sent the new part, paid for the labor without any hessitation. Baker is a good company with a great product.
 
I have had a revtech 6 speed in my softail for 5 years and 8,300mi.No issues at all with it.The baker is definitly a better quality unit though.Just my 2cents.
 
It's because the SE 6th gear is an actual overdrive gear. I don't know the exact ratio but it's probably around a .76 to .8 to 1 ratio. The DD6 6th gear is a 1:1 ratio.
