Bagger Seat Conversion 10 to 05

First time posting a thread, take it easy on me if this has been discussed already. I have an 2005 Road Glide, been running the stock seat for over 30k miles, she is starting to get a little tired. I still like the stock seat for around town, so this is just for long trips, so YES I am trying to be cheap about it. So I was looking on EBAY for a stock, low miles Ultra or Electra seat, but most up there are for 2008 and newer. So the question, has anyone tried to convert an 2008 or newer seat to fit 2007 or older frame/seat mount? Is the entire frame different, or did they just change the front seat mount? And if just the front seat mount, could it be swapped out to fit the older bikes? All thoughts and responses greatly appreciated.

Well, I can tell you this: the metal tang on the front of your seat that slides into the frame is reversed on the newer seats. In other words, the metal tang is on the frame and slides into the front of the seat.

like I said, just trying to be cheap. I may regret it later, it wouldn't be the first time. What I really would like to do is get a stock 2011 Road Glide Ultra seat, but that is shooting for the stars.

I'm not saying it can't be done but it would be much easier to find a seat that would fit.
I think '97-'07 Touring model seats will work.
There are lots of them at every swap meet, you may even find one at a garage sale.

Yes, can do the older seats, but my eye is on the newer seats, that HD has been kind enough not to make for the older bikes. Makes me wonder if they changed the seat mount just so the pre-2008 models become obsolete. They seem to be getting worse with not supporting bikes more than 5 years old. Not a part to be found in the new catalog for an evo model. Go figure.
