baffle modification

I've got a ultra classic with wild pig brand pipes. they have easily removable baffles. With the baffles in the bike is just too darn quiet, removed they are obnoxiously loud. My question is can I just cut off one of the "bell" shaped ends and mount it in the pipe, leaving the slotted part and other end of baffle removed to help make it sound right and give me enough back pressure to not do any damage long term? Any helpful replies would be greatly appreciated.

I did similar on a RoadHouse brand years ago. However I would think cutting off one end could be a problem as the cut end would be free to bounce up and down maybe deflecting the metal on the attached side?

I went to Autozone and bought a cheap section of straight exhaust pipe in their bin as close to the baffle diameter as I could find. Cut the bell off one side and half the open baffle pipe. Had a buddy weld the straight piece in so it went bell/open hole section 50%/straight pipe50%/bell. Worked great.

Try drilling a couple holes into the one bell shaped end to increase airflow, if not loud enough, drill a few in the other end. If still not loud enough, cut off the louvered baffle along with forward bell shaped end, leave just the mounting end in there.
