Bad tippers: why don't you like to tip good at a restaurant?

Also, how do you feel when the restaurant adds 15% to your bill for the tip?

When you use a coupon do you tip the amount it woould have been without the deducted amount for the discount?

Do you realize that servers get around 15-20 dollars for a full-time paycheck every 2 weeks and that their tips are taxed?

Do you realize that it's very likely that your server for dinner is working a double shift?
I'm not a waitress, I used to be.

This is question, not an accusation, just a question for the bad tippers out there.

By the way, it's noot true that most waitresses make arouond $1 less than minimum wage. More like 2.30 an hour minus tax.

It's the honest servers that report all of their tips that get shitty paychecks. It's the ones that lie who get around 100 dollars for a fulltime 2 week paycheck.

I wish I could say that it is true that servers can expect a good tip for good service, but it's not true, that's why I asked.

I don't want to know why sometimes you leave a bad tip. I want to know why from the people who NEVER leave a good tip no matter how good or bad the service is.
Yo do realize the servers don't cook the food, right? If you don't like the way it tastes grow some balls and tell the manager to refund you for the food. Don't take it out of the servers tip.

Waiters and waitresses are paid for doing a job. I am paid for doing a job. (Preschool teacher/Kindergarten teacher) I do a great job and never once received a tip....should you be treated any different??

I hope you find peace.

Well said, Mr. Happy.

IF the server SERVES the meal without effing it up, then they get a tip.

If, like the time they brought my father and I grits that were literally luke warm water with ground corn floating in it, don't expect a 20% tip.

If you've kept us waiting, and waiting, and then finally appeared with luke warm, mediocre food, in which much of the order is missing and then we have to wait for the missing and now cold items, don't expect a 20% tip.

The most offensive thing is a server with poor boundaries. I'm not your
"honey" and I don't want to hear about your uncle who knows the guy that painted my house. I've had servers interrupt our conversations with their own anecdotes and observations at one Texas Steak House. What a pain in the ass.

You're under the impression all you have to do is eff a meal up and as long as you keep a smile on your face and you deserve a tip. I've left a few servers $1 because the service and food was so trifling. But we normally decide as a group what kind of tip the server deserves. If it was exceptional service, without the individual volunteering facts about their personal life, we, or I, am generous.

Then, I suppose there are those people who can afford the meal, but can't afford much tip. Ever think about THEIR plight? You know, the elderly or disabled living on fixed incomes.

Since I know a waitress and bartender who routinely makes her car payment with her tips, the ball is in your court.

Sensible folk never tip.

If the bill has 15% added as a tip i refuse to pay that as well.

If the staff ever complain I suggest they take it up with their union or change their job.

I always tip 15 to 20% if the service is average or good but I can't help but think that the waiter at my birthday dinner that cost $200 didn't deserve $40 more than the waiter at Friendly's who had to deal with screaming kids next to us and had food spilled all over her and only got $5. It's the same job and they performed the same service. Kind of stupid how they base it on the bill really.
