Bad time to get ExpressVu?

Little correction:

-9200 are in stop sales. Whether new or existing client Bell Express Vu at the time doesn't sell them...some retaillers might still have them in stock, if that's the case, then he could purchase it

-Only NEW CLIENTS get FREE INSTALL... A client that PURCHASE a receiver OF AN EXISTING OR EX CLIENT wil NOT GET FREE INSTALL, they would have to pay for it. Also aclient that opens an account with the receiver he/she bought of an existing client will have to pay a transfer charge of 35$ and will not be eligible for new clients promo.

-If client installed himself/herself and can not get signal then they would have to pay 75$ for the tech visit

That is true if you buy a 9200 at a store and install it yourself. Renting appears to be a completely different story. :confused:

You will see the movies being charged, and then further see a credit for those film on the same bill

I was with the customer retention department because I was ready to leave to Cogeco.

Should be the same.

We are under instructions that if needed an SW44 is supplied Free Of Charge.

If it is an existing customer with 4 receivers already but no Nimiq 2 reception we would provide 2 x SW44's and build the entire distribution system for Free.

Again I take my directions from Home Services in Toronto, NOT from CSR's.

As I posted in a few threads before:

I spoke with the departement responisble for replacing receivers (either purchased or rented) and they said that Bell had no plan to do so, and if it's gonna happen that there would be a charge

Agent Express Vu, with the greatest of respect to you, could you please read the preceding Posts thoroughly before correcting people. In this case there are no corrections needed.

propofol had already stated;

So the client is fully aware of the stop sale issue and is looking at FS for the purchase, your comment is redundant.

Agent Express Vu said;

So you are saying that if a new client installs the receiver himself he has to PAY for the installation.? That is pure BS.

Agent Express Vu said;

This might be the standard reply, however I know of dozens of NEW customer who have activated OLD receivers and had the $35 refunded. So it's not 100% guaranteed that it WILL cost $35.

Agent Express Vu said;

Which was EXACTLY why I said;

To expand a little, if the account has NOT been activated and the client bought the equipment from a Retailer and he cannot get signal, then his is still entitled to a FREE Professional Installation. If he has called into Express Vu to Active the receiver, he is NOT.

Some people would say that any time is a bad time. Considering the uncertainty of EV's HD programming/HD equipment offerings and the required 2 year contract, it appears to be a very bad time.

Good luck seeing the credit. I was told I had to call for the credit after the bill showed up. I've yet to see a TMN credit that was supposed to be applied two months ago. I called and it still didn't show up on the bill. The PPV movies I ordered two months ago still haven't shown up. They probably will after the PPV credit expires. Welcome to the EV billing merry-go-round. :eek:

I am sure i had kits that had sterling connectors and trunkline brand cables in the sw44 boxes.

How did you make the PPV order? Did you make it throught the remote directly? If yes, is the receiver still connected to a telephone line?

Always trying to pick a fight macho installer???

I was explaining that a client that currently doesn't have an account with us, who goes and buy a receiver of an existing or disconnected client and opens a new account with that receiver will have to pay a 35$ transfer charge

If the client who has an existing account with us buys a receiver from an existing or ex client and adds it to their account, there ids no transfer charge

In the event that the client bought the receiver from an existing or ex client and needs a professionnal intall, he-she would have to pay the cost of the installation, which is 75$. That client won't be eligible for Nimiq2 free upgrade promo until 30 days after they activated the account

At least we can be thankful for that!

I was thinking of upgradin my master bedroom receiver to an HD model but after reading everything that's going on I'm going to be holding off for a while. :o

I haven't ordered any yet - I was just told on the phone that I'd get $10 credit... I don't have the unit hooked up to the phone line yet - is there any advantage besides easy ordering of PPV stuff (which I don't intend to do very often...)?

You will get some bargains I am sure for the 6100 pretty soon.....

Don't forget it will run for a few years yet, I can not imagine Express Vu turning OFF the MPEG2 stream for years yet.

Geese I wish Cogeco Cable would adopt this methodolgy, as I'm an existing customer with them, and they offer nothing to stay, that's why I'm window shopping here.

I'm astounded by the breadth and flexibility these reps have to "sweeten" deals on the fly like this. I understand why Bell (or any TV provider) goes the extra mile to retain customer intent on leaving (although this seems to be getting out of hand and ultimately counter-productive) ... but this "wheel and deal" capability is also available, as noted above, in the regular sales channel -- not just retention.

So to rent an HD PVR as an existing customer I can pay:

$20/mth on a 1 year contract
$100 deposit refunded after one year (this is a new one to me)
$125 install fee (does this include upgraded LNB and external wiring?)

or just pay $20/mth + $50 install if I hang on the line a bit and barter.

As a customer that's not the way I want to do business - with anyone in a retail space. Tell me the price, and I'll decide if it's worth it.

But haggling just makes me annoyed and, no matter how great a deal I get, I am left with a slightly sour taste in my mouth wondering if there was an even better deal ready to be put on the table. :mad:

It does sound like the previous owner had a Dual Tuner.

You also need to know if there are 2 x LNBF's on the Dish, if so its possible that you can just connect a new unit and activate.

As for contacting a local Installer, well, whilst it's not public knowledge of just who do Installations in all areas it can sometimes help. They would most likely ask you to book your installation through Express Vu as normal, then when you have the order number, OMX*******, call the installers back with this number and they can try to fit you in sooner.

That's the beauty of window shopping, you get to check out all the options, just have an open mind, make a list of what's important read all the cable and satellite threads to make the correct choice!
