Bad tie rod on a 2000 Dodge Caravan?

We went for an oil change for our 2000 caravan recently, which had just over 90,000 miles, and the guys said that the left front tire has a bad tie rod.Is it abnormal for a tie rod to go bad before 100,000 miles? Is it worth fixing because on Wednesday or Thursday, we are getting a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SE brand new. And how much do you think replacing it will costt?
 
probably about two hundred dollars, for parts and labor. It is not unusual for them to wear out at 90,000 miles.
