Bad disk, total back, shoulder & neck pain?

I posted about this not long ago...
I have a Severe Degenerative disk. Been going to a Chiropracter until last week. I have since seen a Specialist, had an MRI (xrays diagnosed the problem). Anyhow, my bad disk is the L-5 I believe. It does hurt all the time, more of a soreness that hurts more when I move. The pain is not in the center of my back, more of to the left alittle. It radiates across my lower back. About two weeks ago the rest of my back through my shoulders & upto my neck has been sore. Feels like I've been shoveling gravel. It got worst for a few days then better. Than yesterday it's worst again. I have a pain that goes through my left Shoulder Blade in the muscle tissue & leaRAB into the back left side of my neck. Last night it was really bad & the slightest move hurt. I'm alittle better today but soooo sore...
I've been going to the Chiropracter for 4 months but not a whole lot of improvement. I was told recently I should be seeing a Specialist & that a Chiropracter can cause more problems. I talked to him about it last week & he explains it's part of healing & my back straightening. He has an excellent reputation & been in business a long time. I have full faith he knows what he's doing. But, it's time to see what the specialist can do. I'm sooo tired of hurting. I'm only 30 & with 4 kiRAB & a farm, it's not easy... Anyhow, I'll stop rarabling... I'm just seeing if anyone has any ideas why I'm hurting so much?

Until you can see the specialist, I would urge you to stop seeing the chiro. Try using heat on the sorest area for 20 minutes; off for 20 and then ice it for 20. When you find which one seems to help the most you can then use only heat or ice. Hot baths can loosen those muscles too. And a helpful spouse willing to do protracted back rubs can ease the soreness.

This is just one possibility but one worth following up on. Good luck.

you said yourself why you have so much pain- DDD, and probably herniated disk as well-you need to get a MRI-and something for the pain probably
 
Your issues sound similar to mine. I had back Pain and Fuse L4-L5-S1, which provided significant relief however major pain remained. Next I had pain in my neck, headaches back pain, shoulder pain, etc... this lead to fusing C4-C5-C6-C7 the the same results in pain resolution. I relate to the pain "radiates across my lower back," "Left Shoulder Blade," "Center of Back" and most of what your describing. While we are unique as are the source of pains, a good discussion with a doctor to understand what you MRI revealed could be the answer to your problems (be sure a good review of your back including the Lurabar and Cervical area's). Of interest is the most common location for back problems are the lower back - Lurabar and the neck - Cervical. For me, the problems you describe are created from different areas of the back. While I still experience significant pain, I'm VERY Grateful for the surgeries I've had which have resolved an equal Significant amount of pain!

He has managed to align my back more so not as much pressure on the disk. It's gotten alittle better. But the rest of my back, neck & shoulders hurt. It's a dull ache & some days awful & stiff! The last 2 days I just feel sooo uncomfortable. Like really bad body aches when you are sick. ugh
The heating pad doesn't help my lower back at all but did seem to help the neck & shoulders. I love soaking in a hot bath. Seems to help allot also.
I need to get ahold of an attorney & see about re-opening my L & I claim... I'm so stressed...
 
Hello, I've read your post here and got to run now. But I will have to tell you not to go to any chiropractor. My chiropractor promised me he would cure my neck pain in 12 sessions. Well, I'm suffering now more than before.

Chiropractor is a no no. Even doctors now agree on that one. THey can cause severe damage to you.

I know many people love what a chiropracter can do to help them yet if damage exist in your spine/vertebrea, I can see that a chiropracter will only create further damage. I'd recommend a good Orthopedic or Neurosurgeon to address your issues. I lean towarRAB the Neurosurgeon. While I still have a lot of pain, the benefits I've derived from my surgeries are VERY Positive!
 
I went to a "Specialist" that was recommended to me... I wasn't sure what kind of Dr. he is & all I can find is that he's a Physiatrist, "Physical Medicine Specialist". The Practice he is in, is called "Rocky Mountain Orthopedics".
Should I be seeing someone else?
