hi all
i had lurabar fusions in 2003 L4 thru S1 and have had lower back and right leg pain ever since. now the pain has become so servere that the DR SAYS I NEED TO HAVE THE HARDWARE REMOVED. i am scared to do this not knowing what that will do to the bone and afraid i may have to have another surgery. the pain is so bad i have to do something. i can't sleep at night , i am walking with a walker or cane when i can walk. i even have a hard time sitting. i feel i am at the end of my rope. people who haven't experenced this problem don't understand. i also am dealing with depression from all the pain. i haven't been able to work since the surgery in 2003 and have been fighting to recieve social ssecurity disability. sometimes it gets almost more than i can bare. if anyone has been having these problems please reply.

Did you have any tests done confirming that hardware causes all this pain? Maybe you need to go and see other opinion to determine what exactly is wrong.
I had 2 spinal fusions; during second one he removed hardware from previous surgery and fused more levels. My pain did not get better even a bit since.

I feel bad that you are going through such a bad times; You need to find out what is going on and to go from there. Are you under any PM care? Are you taking any PK?

Best of luck to you. I am glad you came to this board, people here are wonderful, they will be able to answer many questions for you and hold your hand to take you though your ordeal...

Best of luck to you:angel:

Hi, I feel that I have to post to your thread but at the same time it is very hard for me.

There is a test they can do to determine if you hardware is the culprit of your pain it is a hardware block. Also be sure and have multiple opinions that this is in fact your problem. Have you had a recent MRI or mylegram to verify that you are not having problems above/below your fusion site?
Are you fully fused? If you are not fused, don't have your hardware removed because it can fall apart and you will have more problems then you started with (this just happened to me).

Good luck and keep us posted.
