I just need to vent a bit. After a long long process last year, I finally got my asthma under control last October. I've been able to just stick the bottom level treatments on my asthma action plan when I had any problems. That is until this week. We've been stuck in an inversion with the hazy pollution just sitting on top of the local area. I had some early warning signs in the couple days leading up to the most recent attack so I started using my Albuterol early. I woke up having some problems yesterday that my Albuterol just didn't help much with. I had to start on the steroiRAB again. I know I'm following protocol, but It's so frustrating. I hated having to resort to the steroiRAB again. No matter how healthy I eat, I always end up gaining weight. I still have to deal with the bad air for a while still too. No way around it. Regular use of Albuterol and being extra careful going outside are my way of life for a while. Problem is that my breathing is still bad when I stay inside. What a bummer. Last time things got this bad, I had to start carrying an epi-pen in case of asthma emergency to keep me going until help arrives. It also messes up my holiday weekend plans. I have family coming from out of town to visit and do some outdoor activities.
On top of that, my asthma plan calls for me to increase from Advair 250/50 to Advair 500/50. I just filled the 250 last week and insurance won't cover paying for the 500 at this time. Both my doc and my Pulmonologist are out of 500/50 samples too so I'm not able to follow that part of my plan.
Thanks for listening.
