Backyard Breeders: do you health test your dogs?

What kind of testing do you do? Do you supply the buyers of your puppies a complete health guarantee? Do you have a contract? Within that contract to you state specific tests done on the stud and b*tch?

Does it also state you will take a puppy back no matter what the circumstances?

I am curious to know what you do to justify your breeding.

If you DO provide all of the above could you email me a copy?

Just don't claim it. Back it up.

For those of you looking for a real answer, here you go:
You may be confusing BYB with small Hobby Breeder. I do all the things you mention and more. I am a small hobby show breeder. Just because the dogs live in my house and my Back Yard, does not make me what is typically the stereotype BYB. No I won't email you copies of anything especially my contracts because a lot of PETA and H$U$ extremists lurk here trying to find good breeders to harass. Your statement about how I could "justify breeding" points in the direction of an AR activist. Every litter I breed costs an average of $2500 before I sell a single pup. All leave my house with contract, health guarantees, pedigrees, copies of genetic tests if requested, microchips, all medical up to date and more. (Toys, food, collars are also sent home with the pups)
I justify my breeding program by producing sound, stable, healthy dogs that go on to compete in conformation, performance, and most importantly be good well loved PETS. I support rescue and the local no-kill shelter as well. But shelter dogs are not for everyone and my pure bred pups have a place in this society just as much as the mutts.
