Any recommendations for a Palm Backup Software? I know there is Backup Buddy, but any recommendations for a cheaper shareware or freeware, or a manual method? i.e. save to hard disk? copy SD card info?

transfer Palm OS info to SD card then transfer to hard drive? options?

The old Palm desktop wasn't very good about backing up all of your programs - that was clear back to 1996 when this whole thing started.

Now however, a backup program to the SD card isn't necessary if you hot sync every day - it's redundant.

Now if you are going to "beta" test a lot of software which will cause the occasional hard reset in the wild away from your PC or laptop - then I'd recommend Resco Backup. You can set it for incremental or full and even configure it to backup before you hot sync (which is ideal if you are beta testing software).

If you have to hard reset your device now and you are away from the pc then your probably still goofed anyway because unless you are backing up every hour - you've lost some data.

But hard resets are extremely rare provided you are buying decent software that is constantly updated for the device you are using. Since the TX is over a year old - most of the software providers have long ago updated.

It's the freeware providers that don't spend as much time on their software....one reason I don't typically use the freeware software.
