My husband and I are planning a backpacking trip to Sabah, Malaysia. Most probably in one of the islands there. Can somebody recommend an island where we can go this Jan 09? We prefer somewhere quiet with less development. Budget to middle range accommodations. Not crowded. Thanks!
Hv u guys been to Small Perhentian Island in Terengganu, Malaysia? We want to go to somewhere which is as beautiful, calm & relaxing (if not more) like that. And we also wanna go diving & snorkeling...

I'm the jungle and mountain guy, just back packed there a few months ago, know nothing about the islands there but if you need info about Mt Kinabalu climbing you can always contact me, i heard if you can't do diving / snorkeling it is not that fun, fishing is great

Most of the islands there are with less development

My pick shall be

1. Sipadan Island (you are not allowed to stay on this island ... only day trip and it is very beautiful)
2. Manukan Island
3. Kuraman Island

Besides going to the island, I suggest you take the opportunity to see other awesome stuff like the Dutchman of Borneo (proboscis monkey), orang utan at Sepilok, the highest mountain in South East Asia that is Mt. Kinabalu etc...

as a Sabahan, i suggest you Sipadan Island. one of the best diving site in the world. but, you said, you want a quiet lace.. so, i suggest Tiga Island. it is located near to Labuan Island.
