backpacking through europe!?

I just took a backpacking trip last summer, I had a kelty backpack. It was so comfy and will last you forever! I got it quite cheap on craigslist. Take lots of baby wipes, flashlight, your own pillow, great shoes, and undies oh and... extra euro coins, (you'll need those for going the bathroom in public places)
 
in the summer i will be going on a backpacking trip through europe for a month. what is the best type of backpack to get? also how big should it be? and what should i bring along for the trip.
