My sister told me that for the California behind the wheel driver's test, you will be required to park parallel to a curb, and then slowly back up a couple feet without hitting the curb. This procedure is simple but I'm confused over a couple things I read about it.
I first read that while you're parked parallel to the curb, you must not turn around while backing up. I read that it is an automatic fail if you turn your waist at all because you are to keep perfectly straight and it will ensure you will not hit the curb. It didn't say that you can't turn around while reversing in any other situation, but just in this one procedure on the driver's test.
I also read this, and it seems like the most logical: that whenever backing up, in any situation, you must always turn around and look through the rear window, or else you are automatically failed. I always look behind me when reversing (after checking my mirrors). Whether it be out of my garage, out of a parking lot, etc.
I know I'm pretty naive in this but after reading two opposite answers, I'm pretty confused and really do not want to fail this test. So, look straight ahead and just look through mirrors for this portion of the test, or turn my head to look through rear window?
