I was thinking if doing a upgrade to bell would that unlock the brew folder allowing one to read/write to the folder? Seeing how bell uses java one MAY be able to do brew game backups and what nots.. What is y'alls idea on this?

personally i think its a lil bit more of a carrier dependant feature in cdma networks, but go 4 it man u never kno just remeraber u got it as easy that if you completely screw up ur phone just put it in rsd lite or multiflashflex and put the cricket v3c monster flash file on it youlll be perfectly back to normal! :hehehe:

yeah thats true man and usually gsm phones have java and cdma have brew... i had a v3c not too long ago, one from cricket... it doesnt have java settings man its only brew and if u already put the cricket firmware on it, other than shootin dual nam's to get two lines and have free wap on verizon inpulse theres no more unlockin it.....

uhmm, i tried it and still said it was locked.. there has to be a seem or something to unlock the filesystem, or a working file browser written in java(the bell is a upgrade not monster) which would allow us to copy them to a unlocked folder on the phone.

Guess you should have kept your V3c, cause with the leak of the Bell V3c firmware it gave birth to Java on the V3c for people not on Bell or Telus.

well from the v3c i upgraded to a v3m to get the transflash features when i realized that i was just overall bored with a razr so i got an LG vx9900 enV flashed it got bored again and now have the Q but im thinking about either the Q9m or the Q9c or a HTC ppc 6800 dont really like the touch... i still have the v3m around there somewhwre....

I have a question about this Java/Brew thing.... I really want a decent browser that doesn't suck as bad as OpenWave. Where would I find one that will work with my Cricket V3c and where do I install it to?? Or better yet, should I flash to Bell or Telus in order to have Java?

If you flash to Bell to get java you will lose crickets WAP, and on cricket you cannot use a free wap(by the way they have it set up). As far as a web browser for brew i don't think there is any

I've seen threaRAB detailing how to set up WAP but I don't know if that pertains to the Bell firmware.

Brew is easy to hack on Motorola's anyway. I'm not going to say exactly how because I think it violates the forum rules, but the answer is out there floating around.

Also, you can use either BitPim or an application called GAGIN (which stanRAB for Get Around Get It Now) to backup demo apps and reload/activate them.

But this is all moot anyway: Like I said; with some searching, Brew for Cricket Moto's is a breeze.

I didn't see any mention of Java in the article, so I guess it's a seem edit? This would work for my V3c at least. I'm still wondering, though, where would I find BREW (.bar) apps? Maybe I'm just not searching with the right wordage.

Well... I'll be damned. Still, that shouldn't be too difficult. The hardest part is figuring which one to go with. Maybe I'll just try them all and see which works best for me?
