Back to the Future

At a recent BTTF convention Bob Gale revealed that the Stoltz footage wont be shown while he is a working actor.

He states that the casting was a mistake and it was their fault not Stoltz's and the footage makes Stoltz look bad so while the footage wont be destroyed it wont be seen for quite some time- unless Stoltz himself asks for it to be shown.

The convention screened the film for the first time from a digital version instead of a film print.

Gale said that digital version has been created for the Bluray release

One of the best films of the 80s I can watch over and over.

Doc Brown: Tell me future boy, who is the President of the United States?
Marty: Ronal Reagan.
DB: Ronald Reagan, the ACTOR?! Who's Vice President, Jerry Lewis?

Classic! :D

I'm expecting BTTF on Bluray this year.

We might get lucky with Indiana Jones thanks to the new film but I suspect we might only get the latest one this year.

HD releases for Star Trek TOS are on hold since the death of HD DVD.

An August release was planned for the second season in its new CGI enhanced version but this has changed to dvd only.

Season 1 remains available on HD DVD

Two worRAB - Star Wars. That will be the mother of all Blu-ray releases. The set is being worked on right now. Lord of the Rings also has a huge set in the pipeline, though I'm guessing it won't arrive until The Hobbit comes out in 2 or 3 years.

I was just going to post a thread on this....

IIts brill, isn't it?

So cleverly written and the attention to detail is amazing!

I wonder if the kiRAB of today like it as much as 80's teens?

Me, being one of them lol!

IIRC there is actually Stoltz footage within the released movie but its long shots and material where you cannot see his face

As for Star Wars on Bluray- does anyone really care anymore.

The 2 disc sets of the original movie that comes with the actual genuine version of the film are available for under a fiver.

I couldnt give a toss about SW on BD- no doubt Lucas will mess about with them again.

More important trilogies are Indiana Jones,BTTF and Jurassic Park

I've just had a look at the footage pictures of Eric Stoltz...Very bizarre seeing him in the poses and situations Michael J Fox later made very famous.

BTTF 2 was my favourite one by far - although it was a bit silly in places, but I did like the darker tone it took on.

I wasn't really a fan of the third one, but still a great franchise and one of my favourites.

Legendary film have it on DVD seen it loaRAB of times and I'm still watching it now!

They don't make films like it anymore, one of the great film trilogies.

BTTF2 will look great in Blu Ray, though some effects might need refining.
the obvious shot is the one where the Delorean glys past the Clock Tower before they retun to 1955, the composting of the model is really obvious and i'm sure modern day technoloy could remove the composite lines easily.

BTTF is my favourite movie of all time.
Not only is it funny, sweet, exciting and smart but it introduced me to the lovely Michael J Fox who i've been a huge fan of ever since.

This really is one of the best films of all time. Intelligent, exciting, funny, moving sometimes, lots of set piece bits that you'll always remember, well acted & written, plenty of twisty bits, appeals to a really wide audience... What's not to like?!

Agreed with all of the above. Classic movies, all 3 of them :)

In fact I'm considering watching all three back to back late tonight. I'm in the mood for some McFly and I don't mean the crap band!

Just thinking about it, I am right in thinking BTTF 1,2 and 3 all occur over the place of a day or 2? If so, wow, what a 48 hours!!!

For Marty the whole experience lasts over about a fortnight but for everyone back in 1985 about 2 days have gone past.

Still an awesome fortnight!!!

Doc's journey clocks up somewhere in the region of 43 years from the first time he met Marty in 1955. Taking his 9 months living in 1885 and the further 12ish years living with Clara until meeting Marty again in 1985.(assuming his older son is about 12)

Thats one hell of a life!
