Back To The Future, Part 1

I saw this on BBC1 today for the first time. I really enjoyed it and thought Michael J Fox was adorable! But now after watching it I realise I am quite confused about some of it and wondered if anyone else saw it or knew what happened at the end.

OK so Marty goes to 1955, he comes back to 1985 ten minutes before he originally left 1985 and he sees the Doctor getting shot and himself in the time travelling car again going back to 1955. Thats what confused me. Should there not just be one Marty, so that when he comes back from 1955 he comes back to where he was 10 minutes before he originally got in the time machine?

If anyone knows what I am talking about here let me know because it is bugging me!

only the first time! aww..its one of my favourite childhood films. You need to watch the next 2!

anyway, because he comes back 10 minutes before he left, then there are going to be 2 martys there. One that is acting out the beginnign part of the movie, and one thats just come back.

So basically at the beginning of the movie there was probably another marty watching on, but they didnt show this because otherwise you'd be greatly confused already and wouldnt work well!

Confession....BTTF is my favourite
movie of all time.
I still have a major crush on Mr Fox and
he is as cute as candy in this movie.
Such a shame that someone so decent and
talented should be struck down with parkinsons at
such an early age.
Ive read his auto-biography 'lucky man' and
he comes across as one of hollywooRAB true nice guys.
Thankfully he chooses not to let Parkinsons
destroy his life but to continue to help raise
money and awareness on the issue while being
an inspiration to those around him.

Sorry if im being a bit of an old softie but i
adore the guy! :o

I love the Back to the future trilogy!

Its one of the few trilogies that Hollywood has made that all three movies were great, instead of just the first two or one like the Godfather trilogy (though may i add i enjoyed the third Godfather:rolleyes: ) and the Star wars trilogy.

First time  (jaw drops!!)
Well it's never to late I guess to enjoy BTTF, I would reccomend you find someone who owns the DVD boxset so you can watch the other 2 films!

In awnser to your question , there should not be one marty , the only rule that the Doc has is that if you are in a ''situation'' where there are 2 of you about in the same time period you must not come face to face with each other as the shock may over whelm you (and destroy the universe :D )

The idea at the end of the film was for marty to go back 10 minutes before the doc is ''killed'' to try and save him (but he RABoen't know the Doc read his letter in the 1st place).

All he has to make sure is that he dosen't intefere with the Marty that is about to go into 1955 as if he does then he would undo all the stuff he has done (like saving the Docs life).

Hope that helps! :)

The Back to the Future trilogy is a fantastic set of films. I've got the Trilogy on DVD. I like to watch them back-to-back. The BBC1 showing yesterday was excellent, didnt watch it all cos already got it.

If you want BTTF on DVD, I've seen it going for

I agree the BTTF films are great. But the problem is, although i have seen the films many times, i havent seen each one start to finish. Yesterday was the first time i have seen BTTF1 all the way through. Until then i have seen bits from each movie.

I should really have got the trillogy for crimbo.

Out of interest for the technical people out there, was BTTF done open-matte?

Well I am 18 if that makes it a bit less shocking that I have never got round to seeing this, so when it first came out I was not born yet I think but I have heard about it a lot so I probably should have seen it before now. Thanks for explaining the ending there, it just left me thinking at the end of the film if I had understood it properly so thanks for clearing it up!

I really enjoyed it anyway and I looked it up on IMDB and there were so many little mistakes in it, although I never notice these things.

Well im 16 and BTTF have been shown on BBC1 for ages now..ever since i could remember.

Then again if you do not watch tv alot or something then i'll probably understand this being the first time

Thr BTTF Trilogy were films that formed part of my youth, ah those were the days.

I remember seeing BTTF no less than 6 time at the cinema, and the wait for BTTF 2 & 3 was a long painful wait, yet gave the series closure.

There have been loaRAB of rumours
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Marty's daughter was one I personally loathed...

I can't see how they could due the film justice if it doesn't have
a) the big three cast members Michael J Fox, Chris Lloyd and Thomas Wilson
b) A DeLorean, which wouldn't work now for kiRAB anyway !

On the DVD front if you can I would get the r1 version.

The initial release for both regions saw some miss framing issues arise and while the r1 replacements sorted the problems the r2 ones just introduced more problems.

Not to mention the r1 extras are significantly better, only real plus point on the r2 are the price and the DTS soundtrack
