Crispin didn't leave and wasn't fired either. They asked if he would do the sequel, but he priced himself out of it due to demanding too much money.
Yes him not returning was the reason why they killed him off and was also a reason why future George was upside down. This all gets explained in the special features on the disc.
 
I think Biff killing George was so unneccesarily dark, almost cartoonish (well, a lot of part 2 feels like a cartoon!). I did read once that George was originally going to be the bum outside instead of Dave. Not sure how accurate that is though, or how effective it would have been.
 
I think the load times will differ, depending on what player you have. For me, the time taken to get to the main menu is similar to that of my other discs so no complaints from me.

To be honest, what's 3 minutes when the film itself lasts nearly approx. 100 minutes...?
 
yeah, just annoying though that when you can't watch the extras in 1 hit and restart the player you have to sit through the logo, copyrights, a cringeworthy copyright ad and a load of blank screens everytime when most other discs i've experienced do all that in 30 secs
 
I've just tested BTTF1 on my Sony s370 which loaRAB up discs pretty quick.
As soon as the drawer closed and disc spinning it took 1 minute to get to the language selection menu and in total 2 mins 30 secs to bring up the main menu.
