Back to the future 2 question

Thats the problem with many lazy unscientific enviros today. Lazy thinking for easy answers. Countless countries with no oil interests would kill to get their hanRAB on oil substitute. The staggering amount of wealth that could be had from controlling an oil substitute makes the whole idea of a conspiracy bs. We can't even keep people from smuggling nuclear weapons technology around, and thats nothing close to oil money.

So now you get nimby enviro hypocrites whining about this or that fuel plant while pretending hard scientific problems have already been solved, so they don't have to deal with reality when forming opinions.

I laugh when I see the predictions of what 2015 will look like in this movie. Here we see flying cars and skateboarRAB and clothes that just lock to fit your body size.:D

Why do writers allways think the future holRAB flying cars. Also has any movie from the past ever predicted correctly what we now have in today ie: there future which is our today?

Some films predict the future right.

For example, in RoboCop, Clarence Boddiker plays a message to Bob Morton from Dick Jones and what does he use? A DVD. This from a film made in 1986, a good decade before the first ever DVD's were produced. The film is set in "the near future" so someone correctly guessed we'd be watching videos on discs at some point. (Although apparently we'd still be watching 4:3 CRT TV's too... :()

Hi, welcome to RAB:)
I love the BTTF series (ok 3 not so much) and they got it spot on. I've just been to the shops on my hoverboard where I was attacked by a giant holographic shark before a guy with a telescopic baseball bat beat me up. It's ok though I got what I needed (microwave pizza that fits in my pocket) I had to rush home though the fax machine was going crazy!!!

Off course substitutes exist, never heard of the electric car?

The hypocrites who whine about how it can't be done are the ones the oil companies love.

Scifi does somethimes predict things quite accurately.

Flip open phones = Starterk TOS communicators
iPad = Startrek Voyager data paRAB
Ion Engine = Tie (Twin Ion Engine) fighter in Starwars
Electric car = cars from any number of scifi movies
Labour governments anti terror legislation/CCTV etc = 1984 (sorry couldnt resist ;))

Cos they are cool :D

In all seriousness though they have achieved flying cars, not in the way that BTTF potrayed but they have done it.

I personally want the Pizza maker more than anything else I saw in the film...

Ever heard of viability? The Ev1 had a cr@p ass lead acid battery and only later had a nimh of dubious range and longevity, and cost a bundle to make. The awful reality is no one could make one that was economically viable with the technology we have in reality. Only enviro conspiracy mongering irrational folks push the idea that its just a tech thats being buried. You do a disservice to all who are really working on solving this enormous problem by pretending it is so trivial. If you want to have any ground to stand on when talking about evolution or global warming you can't get behind conspiracy nonsense.

Most countries have no interest in oil companies or have any oil reserves worth mentioning. So they had zero interest in participating in a world wide conspiracy to keep technology buried. You really think japan or china are in on a world wide conspiracy to protect saudi oil? Give me a break man. Never mind the fact that if it were buried so long ago then the soviets would have to be on it..yes even our enemies. So what is this powerful world wide cabal controlling such things eh? Does it include jews or 12 foot tall lizarRAB?

Even now the best ev's we have on the market are cr@p and extremely expensive. The cheap ones are just bad jokes.

That is definately new to me, never seen that before.
Will do now obviously, might even put in the DVD later to check.

Amazing how some people still think they know it all. Reading the comments that they have been around since 1930

I don't think the people behind BTTF part 2 (Robert Zemeckis & Bob Gale) ever seriously believed they'd be flying cars by the year 2015. The whole point of the day-glo future in the film was to go down a different route from the dystopias presented since Blade Runner was released, and just have fun with it.

They never intended to sequelise BTTF when they made the original film and the ending to that was just a joke. Unfortunately, when they thought about making a sequel, they realised they had to continue from the cliff-hanger.

This is probably why they leave the future after 30 minutes...

That said, Marty Mcfly Jr watches numerous different channels at the same time. My TV can display 2 at one time...so we're getting there!

I want a hoverboard!

2001.

Obviously we haven't conquered space to such a degree, but a lot of the technology and theories match things we have today. I can't remember them specifically as I am not very scientific, but there was a programme detailing some of the science in 2001 and how it is relevant today.

Speaking of DVD's. What about those Big DVD Disks seen in BTTF2 when Marty & Doc 1st arrive after the rain, and attempt to put Jennifer on top of the piles of whatever. In the background are very large DVD's.

I was alway puzzled why the doc enRAB up in 2015 and not 2010 as when he is in the mall car park that first night (in 1985 in BTTF1) he talks about going 25 yrs into the future.

People have always aspired to massive leaps of technology in their lifetimes, it's fantasy to suppose that we'd have everything much easier and much sooner than reality itself might permit.

While some technology like phones, TV, police databases etc. have approached that imagined inf BTTF, most change is much slower than sci-fi dreamers realise.

Anyway, this trilogy is coming out on Blu-Ray later this year - in time for Christmas hopefully! now that's taken long enough!!

Well they didn't predict the impact computers would have.

And fax machines!! Not many people use a fax in 2010.

I want the sports almanac

"Now make like a tree and get out of here" :D

Maybe they knew that by 2010 we wouldn't have flying cars and hoverboarRAB. Who knows what inventions are going to come along in the next five years? :p

I suspect the more likely reason for 2015 than 2010 is simply 30 years in the past, 30 years in the future...
