back seat

I picked up my new 08 1098 last week and realized the back seat doesnt clip in like the seat cowl does. It seems like the front clips are backwards, and even if you have it lined up for the rear clip, there's a big gap in the front of the passenger seat. Either they've given me the wrong seat or it's a major operator error. It doesnt line up right. After a word from you guys, I'll call the dealer and tell them know I got the wrong passenger seat if I'm right. Anyone?
 
A picture is worth 112 words (or somewhere about that many).

If the brackets where legs on the seat, when viewed from the side, should face forward so the "shoe" portion fits under the forward part of the tail, then click the back end down into the lock.

Could be installed backwards, or wrong seat.

It's not even close after turning the front bracket around. The back hook at the reat point of the seat is about an inch and a half away from the hole in the tail section after lining the hooks in the ffont up. Looks like the seat is too small.

If I had a camera, I'd show ya.

Well I couldn't find my passenger seat, so I just snapped a picture of the bottom of a second pass. seat I bought to bolt a tail bag to for commuting. Hope this helps. If your seat doesn't look like the same shape as the bottom of this, then yep, you got the wrong seat.
 
Sounds to me they've given you the Streetfighter seat - that lugs at the front face backwards, and the hole at the back won't line up.......

So your seat is different then the pic I posted? You said your seat is all plastic? Damn it, I got ripped with the extra weight of the metal Seriously though, the pic is the underside of a second seat I bought, matches perfect with my seat (other than I drilled this one for four bolts to secure my tail bag).
 
yeah...that's odd...you did get screwed! But whatever, I've only had the seat on the bike 3 or 4 times...even the pillion pegs are sitting on the self in the garage.
