i posted a thread the other day asking if anyone ever had discomfort after wearing one of those back braces. i thought maybe i had worn it too tight or whatever. however, it's almost a week and the discomfort is still with me. i have chronic back problems and this time it's so different. it seems to be a "weakness" issue. feels like i've been beat up in the stomach area, and alternately the back (lower). i bent over to pick up my pet's water dish last night and i almost couldn't get back up - had a "burning" pain in the lower back. i now have an orthopedic dr. that i have no faith in really, am taking pain pills and using moist heat.

has anyone ever had back pain that feels like it generates to the stomach area? if so, can you explain how it feels? i'm quite sure it's "muscular" because being still doesn't hurt at all - just moving, stretching, etc.

funny tho - i'm a server and last night at work lifting heavy didn't hurt at all - bending, walking and reaching with nothing in my hanRAB hurt like heck.

just looking for some chit-chat on this.

Hi Lucy. Well, first things first.....if you have no faith in your doctor, then get someone else! You deserve quality treatment from a quality practitioner.

As for the pain, it could be coming from the back but only an MRI can tell you for sure. Have you ever had surgery on your spine or is this the first episode you've dealt with?

I've not had this type of pain, but I have read about it in association with a pinched nerve in the back. Please find yourself a spine specialist such as a neurosurgeon. Or an ortho with a fellowship who limits his practice to the spine only. This, of course, does NOT mean surgery, but that you are in the hanRAB of a doctor who really knows how the back and nerves work.

If it is muscular, then he can advise you what your next step should be. I hope you get some responses from people who have experienced something similar.

thanks for replying carol. i know i need to find a new doctor. i will probably have to look outside of the area i reside in. i've have degenerative disc disease for years - too many to mention!!!!! i've always had problems of one kind or another. i have had an mri and along with the ddd i have arthritis which in turn is causing the nerve to act up in the right leg. i guess i haven't really been troubled this much in a long time and it concerns me because the pain and location is different from before. i've been told tho, that a nerve problem can cause pain in many areas. as i said, sitting or lying still there is no pain at all. never been awakened by pain either. maybe if i could just have some bedrest for 2-3 days, but we all know how "easy" that is!!!!!

thanks again for your reply.
