Back problem

I have had back and legg problem for some time now ,I can't hardly walk bend down and barely walk,my leggs have no strenght now ,my back extremely hurts .I have been going to pain management for about a year now getting shots in my back once or twice a month .My whole life style changed also I have been on so much medication Dr don't know which one to give me any more .Now they did an MRI ,cat scan and results are Annular tears in my spain so now I was refereed to the surgeon ,now Im worried now any one has any answers.....

I'm really sorry to hear about your pain problems. It's tough to get to the point where you have to admit you're in bad shape and know you need to get help from a surgeon.

As you freely already admit, you're at a point where you will likely need spine surgery to get improvement in your pain and get back some of your mobility and function. Spine surgery likely won't ever get you back to 100%, but the chances are greatly in favor of you getting substantial pain relief and getting much of your life back.

Without knowing more about your condition or how bad the annular tears are, it's hard for any of us to say what type of surgery you will need or how difficult the recovery may be. If an annular tear is large, it usually requires a fusion to repair it.

I would suggest you talk to at least 2 surgeons before you have any back surgery - it's amazing how very differently they would approach the same problem. It's also good to study up on back problems and back surgeries so you know what questions to ask and can better understand what will be done to you.
