cant move in lots of pain in my lower back and getting pins and needles in my right leg. what should i do

Get in to see your primary care physician ASAP. They can do an examination and any necessary tests, and determine what is likely causing your problem and refer you if needed to a specialist, either now or later. Hopefully your problem is just a nerve being pinched due to a knotted muscle and not a problem in your spine such as a herniated disc, but the doctor will need to do testing to find out for sure.

Meanwhile, ice on your lower back 20 minutes at a time a few times a day, ibuprofin if you can take it, and avoiding lifting and excessive bending should help relieve some of your pain. Try to get up and walk around or change positions frequently as much as you can tolerate and don't stay in bed.

Warm wishes!

My advice would be to rest for a short time to settle it down unless it has already been a while. Be wary of doctors and specialists as they will probably suggest drugs and surgery for the symptoms sooner than they should. They are not usually the best person to see for a back problem once you detemine it is a disc bulge or similar from a scan.

There are good techniques you can use to unlock the muscles and help your pain. Mosty problems like yours come from a muscles irabalances causing pressure to build up around the disc and nerve. A bulging disc is a probability but these can be fixed without drugs and surgery if you find the right person.

My advice is search on the net for an expert with the muscles who can explain why this happens and the best way to get it right.

Hi Maria,
have you been to see your doctor? Brenda has given you very good advice there. everyone experiences back pain at some time or another but the pins and needles is not so common so i would get your doctor to check it out and maybe see a specialist if doctor thinks it requires investigation. ibuprofen is great i take 8 x 200mg daily but i am trying to lower the dosage at moment. take care maria and take it easy until you get to see your doctor, let us know how you get on, i hope pain subsides for you soon.
