back pain

i havea 5 year old and every night after he's been in bed for about an hour he wakes up crying with back pain in the middle of his back after rubbing the middle of his back he goes back to sleep for a little while then he wakes back up with the same pain but durring the day his back dont bother him at all what do i need to do and whats wrong with his back plea help
 
It would be best to take him to a doctor for an evaluation. It could be nothing at all, or it could be arthritis, kidney problems, or other possibilities. It is unlikely that the problem is coming from his spine.
