I had similar back pain...it happened only at night, and made it next to impossible to roll over, breath, or to get out of bed in the am. It came and went at will and I learned to take my phone to bed with me because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get out of bed in the am, nor would I be able to get help. This went on for a period of 1 1/2 years.
I blamed it on a slipped disc that I had over 40 years ago (no problems in the last 40 years I might add), and my doctor ruled out spinal tumors. I requested pt, which I received for 6 weeks. PT helped me overall, but it did not eliminate the pain---pain killers didn't either.
My pain disappeared when I stopped taking my water pill (hydrochlorothiazide) for high blood pressure. My doctor later denied that my pain was a side effect of medication, but the drug info sheet and other literature specifically listed back and shoulder pain---both of which I experienced on that med. And by the way, pain killers were of no help!
I have since read of others on the blood pressure boarRAB with similar experiences...I've also read that some electrolyte irabalances also cause these problems. I don't know if I had an electrolyte irabalance on hct, or if it was simply a side effect. All I know is that I have been pain free since disco'ing meRAB.
