my mother is 79. she suffers back pain where she cannot straighten up for an hour after rising. her hips are painful as well but no problems have been found through x-ray.she cannot walk any distance at all without extreme pain. her doctor does not seem to take her problem seriously but she is putting on a lot of weight due to lack of excersise and is becoming seriousley depressed due to the fact she can hardly leave the house.my mother has always been very active and this problem has been getting worse over the last couple of years. i would happily pay for treatment if i only knew what was causing the problem. i don't want my mother to live her last years like this. unfortunatley we don't have very approachable doctors and a second oppinion at our surgery is not an option. have you any advice that would help? i don't think the extra weight is helping her slight heart or diabetes problems.

She probably neeRAB to have an MRI done to find out what's causing her pain, because it shows alot more than an x-ray can. I had severe pain when walking, couldnt stand up straigt, etc. I had an x-ray first, and it didnt show much of anything except mild scoliosis and early degeneration. When I finally had an MRI a year later, I had severe central canal stenosis, disc herniations, spondylosis and degenerative disc disease. I was only age 37 when I was diagnosed but spinal stenosis in particular, is more common in the elderly. Of Course I can't say what is wrong with her, but she neeRAB to get another opinion or see a spine specialist and have an MRI done.

My mom had 2 stress fractures due to osteroporosis after cancer treatment. She went from doing yoga to not being able to move. There wasn't any surgery for her as the fractures were too high, but it was her lower back that hurt. She used linocaine patches for a long time. Last time my dad brought her over she was able to move much better. He said he had been giving her those Move Free pills. I asked her if her back was hurting and she said no pain. Her short term memory is gone so she doesn't even seem to remeraber having pain
