Hello Everyone.

I hurt my back at work on Noveraber 19, and am on Workers Comp. I finally got an MRI this last Monday, and it showed some disk and nerve problems. T he Dr. is also getting me to see a spine surgeon. I'm on light duty at work, but even that right now is adding to my pain level. I don't want to use any of my leave time, so I grin and bear it. My problem is that I am in horrible pain from the time I get up to when I go to bed. My husband has to bring me 2 of my pain meRAB before I can even try to get out of bed. The problem is my lower back from one side all the way to the other feels like one continuous spasm that never lets up and now I've had allot of pain in the right hip, buttocks and down my leg to the knee. What else can I do to try to ease the pain? I've tried heat, ice,rub on creams, etc... Please help if you have some suggestions.

Precious, is sounRAB like nerve pain. Normal pain meRAB won't touch nerve pain. My suggestion would be to ask your doc for one of the nerve pain meRAB and see of they don't give you some relief. There are several that are out. They are primarily seizure meRAB that have been found to have a secondary use as nerve pain medicines. Neurontin, Topomax, Lyrica are three of them. They all also carry side effects. But it's something that you might want to try. It does help with the type of pain that you are describing.

Precious,

I'm so sorry to hear of your situation. I too am currently on workmans comp for a back injury. After a month of employee health visits and a ER visit, they finally started to believe it wasn't a strain as they kept diagnosing it. They have finally scheduled me with an ortho specialist. I have had tremendous back spasms and tightness and pain shooting down my extremities.
Have you tried putting your legs underneath two or three pillows? It sounRAB to me like you may have some sciatica. The nurses I work with suggested this to me so it may be beneficial to you as well.
May I ask what the doctor diagnosed you with? I'm afraid I'll have to have surgery, as I have been dealing with this for about a month now and no end in sight. My father has had 7 back surgeries and now he's on disability...so the thought of surgery terrifies me.
You may want to inquire on cortizone shots or sterioRAB. My father usually has to get these when the pain becomes unbearable.
Hope to hear back from you!

Thanks for the info. I was just diagnosed with a fractured T12 in the spine. I was at work pushing something and I felt a pop in my lower back. Had an MRI and that's what it showed, plus it showed up on the x-rays. I'm getting fitted with a special brace on Tuesday that's suppose to take the stress off the spine. I can't lay on my back at all as I have to sleep on my side. Doctor just put me up to 10mg of lortab and I get a little relief. Can't take allot though because of the other things in the tablet upsets my tummy. I hate this being in pain all the time and hardly able to walk. I am going to take your suggestion about the pillow, but maybe put it between my legs.

If your Dr.. is getting you a Spine Specialist, that means you have nerve damages in your back. But do you know, what level it is, like L5, L4 and S1.And if you are on Workers Comp. you should be on some medications to relive your pain..You need a strong pain meRAB, like Vicodan to ease your pain..
