Hello.
I began having back problems about five years ago. In the beginning, I saw many doctors and had a bunch of tests, injections, and finally percutaneous discectomy(sp?). Nothing helped at that time. Finally, after two years of this, the pain started to subside and I had a pretty good couple of years. About a month or so ago, it came back. It started with back and hip pain and has now progressed to the leg pain I used to experience. When my leg doesn't hurt, I get that tingly, pins and needles feeling in my leg, down to my foot. I am feeling discouraged and nervous because I don't know where to start now. I don't want to go back to my pain management doctor because it doesn't seem like they listen to me. I can't see myself going through this all over again. I don't want to have to suffer for as long as I did last time. I'm 31 years old and I'm affraid I will have to deal with this for the rest of my life. Does anyone have any advice on where I should start and/or what type of doctor I should see that can help me? I feel totally lost, I don't know where to turn for help. Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi, If it were me I would go to my primary physician who would probably refer you to a neurologist if you do have the pins and tingling down your leg and into your foot. Perhaps you can get some pain relief from your doctor until you find out just exactly what is causing your symptoms and how to fix it.
There are new technologies developed in the past 5 years and hopefully you will get a diagnosis and find out how to get relief from your problems. Hang in there and try to get started right now. Don't wait. The sooner you can get the ball rolling the better off you will be. At least you know that you are on the way to find a solution to your problems.

Hi Showdee, Jane the invertebrate here again. I was thinking of you and wondered if you found someone who will listen to you regarding your pain, leg and back.
If you don't find someone that you like ask around and find another doctor who will help you. I know how debilitating pain can be. You can't sleep and the pain wears your down and it becomes a viscious cycle. When you do go to a doctor ask abouto anti-depressants. They would very well in conjunction with pain meRAB and are a big help with the pain meRAB.

I hope all goes well for you. Please let us know how you are doing. Hang in there. There is relief ahead. Jane the invertebrate

Hi Jane. Thanks for asking. I have good days and bad days. I'm happy for the good ones. I haven't found anyone yet. I'm still looking. It doesn't seem easy to find a good one in Ohio, except for Cleveland of course. Most people I've spoke to in the area aren't very happy with their drs. Same complaint as me. They don't listen but still take your money. I did get the nuraber for a local pain clinic. So far I've heard pretty good things about them. I haven't called my doctor for a referral yet. We'll see. I haven't decided what to do yet. On the good days I start to think that maybe I don't need to go. Of course it always comes back. It's mind boggling really. If I don' t stand too much the pain is manageable, like a 4 or 5. It's when I stand for 5 minutes or so that it's unbareable. The worst part is, to self manage the pain, I just avoid what I know will hurt- mainly standing. It kind of makes me feel useless. Small doses of standing, that's what I can do.
Thanks for asking about me. That means alot to me  I'll keep you posted. :)
