I would like to know how many people out there have had more than one back disc fusion resulting from pins breaking. How many of you wish you didn't have a second one. If so, are you a non-smoker? Thank you in advance for your help!!!

I had screws that broke from the prior fusion not taking. I had another anterior/posterior surgery March 28 with a fusion and all new hardware i had the surgery because my spine was really unstable. I canot say i regret the surgery it has only been 10 weeks since the surgery. I still have leg pain yes but i beleive that will go away in time i have no back pain now and we will see what the outcome is.

I think you be a candidate for this type of Vertebroplasty.

I have compression fractures of my spine, i have done this twice in the same spot, and i think i may have to do this type of procedure.

I had a revision of my first fusion in part because of bent, broken, and backing out of the screws. I dont' regret doing it, because there really wasn't any other option considering that I was not fused at the time.
As far as vertobroplasty, that is done in cases of osteoporosis and fractures of the vertebrae to reinforce the actual vertebrae, not for the disc spaces, and it is generally not available in the US.
