Some of you may recall i had useless post op instructions and you helped me out greatly!

Today, I went to my post op 1 appt and.. , i was in the waiting room oh for about an hour and a half (youch) when i saw this frail elederly lady with about 10 "fusion" booklets, i asked where did you get that? she said oh im considering surgery so the doctor (same as mine!) gave them to me.. so she gave me one and i read... Alot of great info, boy wish i had that when i came home!! and pre op stuff too! Right there in Black and white... NO ANTIINFLAMMATORIES up to 6 months!

I brought this to the attention of my Dr., since he never told me, and no one gave me the book. He felt that the 9 days i took the naprosyn shouldnt effect anything..(of course he did!) He believes you should try to avoid it, but said he has had pts on and off and they all fused.. so ill stay off!

I also got a Bone graft stimulator (is that what its called?) He said only 30 minutes a day at the same time ea day. He said to walk walk walk and regarding the nurabness on my left butt "well have to watch that"

Actually im half joking, he is an excellent surgeon and he showed me my surgical xray and i asked plenty of questions! So... thats my story... hope all is well.

He was probably thinking "oops, we forgot to give her all those pamphlets!" But at least he listened to you and answered your questions.

The nurabness may be a nerve thing, perhaps some irritation from the surgery. I had some nurabness after one of my surgeries. It took a long time to get back to normal, but it eventually did. The bone growth stimulators have a pretty good track record. Mine was a different kind, the kind you wear 24/7 except in the shower, but I was showing bone growth at only 6 weeks, so it apparently worked for me. (That and a lot of people praying...)

Is your pain under control now that you're staying off the NSAIRAB?

Glad your appt went so well. I hope the wait in the waiting room is less next time though!

Take care,
Emily
