Back Break size for a 2002 Chevy Cavalier?

What size back breaks should I get for a 2002 chevy cavalier. it's a 2 door 4 cylinder car. The guy at autozone asked if I'm getting 7 inch or 8 inch. What does it matter? Is there a way I can find out what size they are without taking the breaks off of my car?
