I love it when a character has unusual traits or ways about them. One of my character has a fear of anything dangerous and he makes it a habit of quoting statistics about how "this" and "that" can hurt or kill you and how many people out of 10 died or have been kill by such and such. It's usually when he's thrust in the middle of a dangerous situation that he quotes them.
Another character of mine, which is kind of a mama's boy(he changes in the end) would typically start a sentence with "My mother says...", like he doesn't have an original opinion of his own. Someone once asked him, "We know what your mother says. But what do you say?". Oh and he fights with his pinky fingers out.
