Awful cinema experiences (non-film related)

That sounRAB really funny imagining someone having a rage attack but I fully agree about not having back up when you need it.

I haven't been to the flicks in years - sounRAB like I haven't missed much. It is so expensive too, to have it wrecked by chavs.

I'm a 'bomb blast runner' :D

The reason being that I hate to wait 20 minutes just to leave a screening. If I don't leap out of my seat before the director's name pops up I'm left to brave it out with the sauntering parents who insist on dressing their kiRAB with coats and mittens before taking the time to ask them an endless barage of questions that could, ideally, wait until they'd exited the screening: "Do you need to go wee wee?", "Have you got your hat on?", "Shall we go and have some food now?" - AAAAAGGGHHHH - JUST MOVE PEOPLE!!!

Then you inevitably get people having a lengthy 'critique' of the film whilst strolling aimlessly towarRAB the exit, causing a massive queue to form as they play the 'now-do-we-have-to-push-or-pull-the-door-to-get-out-of-here' game! Then you meet the sauntering parents again as they thrust their way back through the doors because little Reginald has lost his sock.

Once you've finally left the screening itself you've then got to dodge in-betwen people as they randomly stop and decide that they need to go to the toilet before they leave or stagger to a halt as some new action movie poster takes their eye.

Then, when you've finally made it to the car park, you're left to wait another 20 minutes as people struggle to find the (clearly labelled) exit with their car, leaving you to (once again) queue up behind them...

If there is another 'bit' after the credits then tough *^&$ing luck - I'm outta there (certainly not halting in the aisle)! If I like the film I'm probably going to see the end bit when its out on DVD or broadcast on TV; if the film was bad, then that's one less minute I'm forced to endure!

P.S. - I always sit on the seat closest to the aisle - I do so to make sure that those who want to watch the credits are free to do so without me annoying them! ;)

It's not really an "awful" cinema experience, but sitting through King Kong a few years ago with a little girl sat next to me who had a very strange case of the sniffles was extremely irritating, it was like that episode of Scrubs where Kelso gets punched in the nose and makes an odd squeaking noise everytime he breathes, as you can imagine listening to that for over 3 hours was like Chinese torture, lol.

There was also the time i saw Star Wars: A New Hope back in 1997, the screen went black for about 10 minutes during the climactic X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter battle, but we could still hear the film. Upon leaving we didn't get any apologies or anything, needless to say that was the last time i used Odeon...

Yes blind people do go. I've been with one. But that story made me laugh! I can imagine all the 'is that a dog?' queries and puzzled brows! :)

I can remember many bad and some terrible experiences.

1) Half way through Waterworld, the screen went blank. The staff came in to apologise and explained that there had been a technical fault. Had to wait for about 15 mins or so before they sorted it out - and Waterworld was along film anyway! Fortunately the break felt like an old style intermission.

2) Watching Dreamscape at my old college cinema in the 1980s, the screen went blank just before the climactic battle. The supervisor came out and apologised but said that was the end of the tape and that was that. Much mayhem ensued as angry students demanded their money back and wanted to know how the film ended. I don't think that was ever resolved.

3) Blair Witch Project. A mate thought that it would be a good idea to watch this midnight Friday. We didn't realise that the post pub crowd would turn up in force. BWP really is a mood film so you can imagine that drunken yobs would not find it entertaining and they heckled it all the way through.

4) Can't remember the film but a gang of teens sat in front of some frienRAB and myself. Some had mobiles and were using them. All were talking. One girl received a call and replied to the question with 'I'm at the cinema!' whilst laughing. Grrrrr....

5) Was watching an 18 cert. movie when a group of boys aged about 12 came running into the auditorium from the back, no doubt from one of the other screens. They sat down near the front, only to leg it out the front exit when a couple of cinema staff came running in to collar them.

Not so much awful as funny, but when I went to see Matrix 2, during one of the preview screenings, all the pre-show adverts were upside down!

When i saw 'Scary Movie 4' the screen wasn't positioned correctly and the subtitles during the alien speech were completely off screen, thus making an awful film even worse, lol.

My most awful experience was seeing the gonies with a reasonably new GF. It was here that I learnt that she had the worst most irritating laugh you could imagine. I don't think I could have sunk any lower in my seat as everyone kept looking at her! It wouldn't have been so bad but she laughed at just about anything too.
I think she emigrated to Oz, so if you are ever in a cinema ther and hear a strange laugh....

Our cinema still has an intermission and an ice cream lady. But the projectionist always starts the second part of the film before he's opened the curtains.

I saw Lord of the Rings at a cinema in the Czech Republic. It was in english with Czech subtitles, so I was sitting there all smug while my Czech frienRAB had to read the subtitles. Then, suddenly, everyone in the film is speaking Elvish - with Czech subtitles - sh1t! what's going on!!? My friend had to translate for me. Now her Czech frienRAB tease her about being able to speak Elvish.

Not bad for me pursae, but still memorable.

Went to see Harry Potter:POA when it was out, with the family on opening night. Cinema absolutely jammed. We were on the back row and on the other side of the cinema (about 30 seats down) were about 6 disabled people all in wheelchairs with their carers. Pretty much on any quiet scene, you could hear them making baby noises and making pointless comments like "Look wizard hahaha". Anyway, about halfway through the film this bloke stood up in the middle, looked at the back and shouted "Will whoever is making that noise SHUT UP". Obviously, the people making the noises couldn't help it ,and when the bloke saw who was making the noises he promptly sat down. The group then proceeded to spend the next 15 minutes going down the stairs and exiting the cinema!
