i found it amusing mate cause watching your videos it reminded me that we have all done that at some point..............well maybe not the sideways one in the dirt
 
Yep...Whilst I'm "purging" my lack of skill, I hit the dirt on my 1198S also. I've got the footage.

Shit, might have to go back to dirt bikes.........Or put knobbies on the Duc.

Or better yet, learn the art of road bike riding.
 
We have all done it GJD, I salute you for posting your vids and inviting comments. You will likely get both good and bad.....

Road riding needs to flow a little more compared to the on-off-throttle-throw-it-around off road style. Until you gain more skill and confidence stick to the 'slow in fast out' theory where you approach the turn a bit slower and once you have tipped in and picked the apex, roll the gas on smoothly and power out.

I'm sure we all wish you well and none of us want to see you miss any of those saves. Like so many racers say, "you gotta slow down to go fast".

In all seriousness mate get down to Phillip Island or Eastern Creek and book yourself into California Super bike School before you kill yourself or someone else. I don't say this too be rude just most road fatalities in Australia are single rider accidents.
It has made a massive difference to my riding especially my throttle control you will eliminate that choppy action as someone said it is unsettling the bike. I wish I had done it sooner Im going straight back as soon as I can for level 2.

I'm definately too jerky on the gas...For sure. I need to settle and think. Dirt habits are difficult to change , BUT I'll get there mate. Thanks for the tips.

Oh..By the way, I do have a lot of footage which I'd consider to be rather good riding...even skillful perhaps.
 
That's good to hear GJD. Being so damned responsive the Dukes sure are a challenge to master smooth throttle control.... Relax, take your time, enjoy the ride and the rest will come.

The coaching schools are a great way to speed up your learning curve but the basic skills still have to be mastered by yourself on the bike. That's not something anyone else can do for you.

Where are you located and what road is that?
 
Thought that looked familiar! That road goes to dirt (or used to) before Whitfield doesn't it?
Top country - a bit like the Adelaide hills roads.
Good save! I'll resist giving you advice - you've had enough of that already..
Enjoy your track days. They'll help you smooth things out, and missed gears will be less likely once you ride the bike more 'sympathetically'.
As for the Desmosedici 'save' - that's got to be bullshit..
