Awaiting results

I confess to probably being scared about lots of things.
My grandad was given two months to live in december, following his cancer. He died last week but for the past month I have climbed into a hole, scaring myself thinking the worst about everything.
I went to see my doctor who said I showed signs of anxiety and said if I want a blood test I can have one.
I had it a week ago and am going insane. I am scared to call for results.
If there was something majorly abnormal like very low or high white blood cell count would they contact me urgently?

You are having anxiety because of your grandad's passing. That's normal to imagine that we have something awful too. Try to stop worrying. I'm sure there's nothing serious wrong with you. Unless the doctor puts a "rush" on the the blood test, it can take up to a couple weeks for the lab to get the results back to the doctor. Take care :)

Thanks for your response. My doctor said results take three days at our doctors office. So phone within a week. I had them last Tuesday and am just dreading calling for results. Mr grandads cancer is the first time this disease has affected my family and it terrifies me. Thanks again for your response
Sam
